    crickets climb walls

Don't feed in the Viv. Use a separate bin to feed in. Benefits are that no crickets escape into the viv and out into your house.

    Starting breeding colony

Breeding crickets is pretty easy and they reproduce pretty fast. I bought 100 from the pet store and started with that and had thousands within a few months. Crickets are problematic, though. They are noisy, stink, prone to escape and cannibalistic. You should really consider breeding...

    Vitacrickets

As mentioned above, they are gut-loaded crickets and that makes them 4-5 cents more than regular crickets. I refuse to pay that much for crickets and only bought crickets from Petsmart. I can gut-load them for less than 5 cents a cricket. No more crickets for me, I completely switched to...

Beardie not basking, can't tell what's wrong?

Mine have been brumating for almost 3 months now. Occasionally, they will wake up and eat a little, bask , poop and then back to their hide. I'm in Dallas and I'm hoping that they will respond to the warmer temps and spring weather and become active again. I miss them.

WHERE TO BUY CHEAP CRICKETS ONLINE???!!

Dubias are totally non-aggressive. They won't bite or nip and you can totally hand feed them to your beardie. One Dubia is equivalent to 4-7 crickets.

How do I stop crickets from escaping?!

I have to say it! Stop buying crickets and buy Dubias instead. They don't escape!

    Dubia colony is booming!

My colony can strip all the meat from the orange peel overnight. I slice 2 up at a time and they will demolish it overnight. They love the citrus. One night my wife put 4 leftover fish sticks in the tub and the next morning they were gone. They're roaches, they will eat most everything. I...

A few questions about my dubia roach colony

They grow on you. I have a strong affection to my colonies. My wife has two that she keeps in a small cricket keeper on the kitchen counter as pets. It's funny!

WHERE TO BUY CHEAP CRICKETS ONLINE???!!

Roaches don't make any noise and don't stink. I give your boyfriend's parents about 2 weeks before they are no longer tolerant of crickets.

WHERE TO BUY CHEAP CRICKETS ONLINE???!!

I know you asked about crickets, but many of us have switched to Dubia roaches. Once you get over the icky factor, you will tolerate them much better than crickets. Check the feeders forum, there is a ton of information there to help you get started and there are some Dubia dealers in the For...

    Dubia colony is booming!

They both get salads first thing in the morning and then for dinner they get roaches. I find that they will eat their salad more readily if they don't have anything more appetizing first thing when they wake up.

    Dubia colony is booming!

I have 2 adult dragons and I feed them both adult male dubias. depending on the day, they will each eat 5-6 each.

    Dubia colony is booming!

It's pretty cool when you start noticing them growing and reproducing. My colony is also booming but unfortunately my 2 dragons are both brumating and not eating, so I have thousands of nymphs and more new ones everyday. I guess I need to start selling some off before I run out of space...

Cute? Or something to worry about?

I made a hide out of an old shoebox turned upside down. My beardie sleeps in it every night without fail. Normal behavior.

    Heating for Dubia Roach Colony

Get a laser thermometer so you can accurately measure the temps. I am using Flexx-Watt heat tape. You can find it online. It heats up to 120*F and with an inline dimmer switch, I can adjust it to exactly what I need.

    !! RESOLVED !! Thank you.

I would not worry too much. It will take them 3-6 months before they are mature enough to breed. I've had a few escape and they turned up later that night or within a couple of days. They also require temps close to 90*F to breed. I'm guessing that they will starve and you will find them...

    Cricket Virus?

I quit crickets. They are a pain to raise and the last bunch that I ordered were infested with carpet beetles and I ended up tossing about 1500 crickets. Dubias are no trouble, and once you establish a colony, they are way cheaper than crickets. I don't know about that cricket virus, but I...

    Dubia roaches

There are sellers in the Fore Sale forum that will sell you a starter colony. It will take some time for the colony to establish itself in order to sustain itself as you feed from it. I purchased 1000 mixed small for $50 and 6 months later my colony is thriving. As for cost, yes they are...
