You're not alone. It's literally taken me a month to warm up to the roaches. I was always fine with the small ones (really small lol) but the bigger ones seriously made my skin crawl. When cleaning the cage and separating them into new tubs I was using BBQ tongs to grab the egg crates. :lol...

No glass... its wide open. And yes the light is clamped on and then forced down under the lip of the tank. I have the tank wrapped in HVAC tape on that side to the heat doesn't bother it. Hide box came from www.beanfarm.com :)

Would it be possible to separate the two.... even with a $10 tote from Walmart to allow you to further diagnose the problem and provide proper care? Hard to work on something when you don't know which animal is affected.

I gotcha.... but what about the typical dragon viv then which is completely enclosed? Would mounting one of these inside an enclosure that is only 2' high be a problem? Wouldn't that be putting out too much UVB for a dragon? Then what about if you've already got a light mounted 1/2 way down that...

This helps keep the temps inside manageable so they don't get too hot, or too cold. Even the top inside had styrofoam. Then inside, just some light, fluffy packing...

You can lookup the R value of the wood you're using too... should help shine some light on how efficient your cabinet will be. I personally would not run a cabinet setup unless I heavily insulated it, and lined it with foil sheets or foil tape.
