    Damaged scale from shed?

Hi guys, While bathing Izzy this morning i noted what looked like a partially torn/damaged scale on his back, So i took some pics of it to show you, and ask for opinions. **More info** Izzy had a full body shed recently which took him around 6 weeks to finish, he was rubbing himself on a log...

Is this okay? (Pic of Helis marks)

Well that's as maybe, But my guy has had them since he was a juvie and always seems happy enough, I searched google last night and it seems that many happy BD's have them all their lives. Edit* just checked and he has 10-12 scattered around his belly in a very uniformed pattern. Who'da...

Is this okay? (Pic of Helis marks)

My izzy is almost 2 years old and he has these on his belly too. I dont know if they are what people refer to as stress marks or just patterns? Izzies dont look like they are that colour due to stress. More that they are a pattern. I dunno. Maybe someone with more experience can shed more light...

    bearded dragon changing colors?

They change colours for a few reasons: Stress, Stress can make them darken to almost black especially around the beard. Temperatures, They go darker to absorb more heat, and lighter when they don't need the heat. When you think, if you are out in the sun in black or dark clothing, you get...

    Lionel being miserable!

mine gets cranky after a shed, and at the age of yours i assume he hasnt had much handling :) Just persevere and handle him a little and often, let him get to know you, even if it's just in his tank. stroke his beard etc etc. I'm sure he'll come around. Don't forget he's had a lot of upheaving...

My bearded dragon will not eat.

is that a coil bulb for UV? I know they are generally frowned upon, as they cause health issues and lethargy. I've had izzy 18months or so now, and he seems to go through phases of eating loads then not much and some days not at all. Try to give yours some fun/explore time out of the tank and...

    Shed Help!!

In my experience the baths do help. They will help loosen the skin, which will flake off and be easier for him/her to dislodge when it dries out.. If that made any sense :D Basically, the bath helps the skin to moisten and loosen, then it will dry out and crack and flake off on its own, At...

    Beardies Head Turned White?!??

I wouldnt worry at all D: My boy has just had the same thing, over the course of 4 weeks he has shed his ful 20" frame, and it all started with the waxlike look on his head and lips. Ironically, his head was the last part to fully shed even though it was the first to go white :| Tony

    chalky, gritty urates?

I've had gritty/chalky urates too (not me but my BD of course:D) but onlt when he does it in the bath (what i've noticed) I have issues getting mine to eat greens and always have, and he wont drink either: SO i hope he gets all he needs from the bath as im out of ideas how else to keep him...

    stinky poop?

well poop never smells good. I tend not to worry if it doesnt smell any wose than it did when Izzy was younger. The consistancy largely depends on what you feed your BD. If you feed largely water based greens like salad (a no go) the poop will be watery and smelly. Does it smell worse than it...

    The Shakes

First off get rid of the undertank heater :) BD's have no sense of when they are overheating underneath as they take in heat from overhead. And heat mats are known to cause burns on beardies who don't know they're on them. The only thing i know of (and that doesnt mean it is, because im no...

    Lighting question:

The temps are perfect, and measured with a digigutal thermometer, I just wanted to know if my bulb (42w household bulb) was too close to him, when he isnt on the basking log the distance from log to bulb is about 10 inches.

    Lighting question:

Thanks again for the reply :) I don't seem to be able to find any definitive answer regarding how close izzy should be able to get to his heat lamp, I get the feeling (having looked around on google that at 6-8") from his log, Izzies heat lamp is maybe too close to him? and may deter him from...

    Bearded Dragon isn't growing?

Having read on google (just now) some ppl seem to advise that 10-12" from basking bulb is preferable, but UVB should be much close at around 6-8" from his spot. SO possibly heat lamp (providing temps are ok) can be higher than the UV bulb. T

    Bearded Dragon isn't growing?

Well, I asked that very same question recently myself (regarding the UV not the heat lamp) Common response was that with my t8 Arcadia bulb, Izzy would be fine at as little as 4-5inches (he likes to life his head right up when basking and i was paranoid he was getting too close to the bulb, but...

    Bearded Dragon isn't growing?

Hmm, that sucks about his tail =/ I've been toying with the idea of turning an old chest of drawers into a Viv :D just take the drawers out, make some vents and stick a bottom in and add a plastiglass sliding door. In theory it should work :D not sure how well it'd work with my minimal DIY...

    Bearded Dragon isn't growing?

Well I can hardly be degrading when in all honesty, I'm not close to as knowledgeable as most of the ppl on here are.. It's like anything though, Learn from experience and try to keep them healthy along the way. We will all make mistakes and browsing around here is often better than asking in...

    Bearded Dragon isn't growing?

Well, I always come here for tips and stuff about Izzy. I'm fairly new to the bearded dragon scene too ( had izzy about 16months and he's my first). I'm sure i got as much wrong initially as i got right ( and I'm pretty sure most BD owners learned most of what they know via trial and error...

    Bearded Dragon isn't growing?

Are those temps in celcius? Ideally cooler end should be about 25c and warmer end around 40-44c with a gradient in the middle (so the heat temps flow from one end to the other rather than just jumping). As for the salads. Some beardies just don't eat them, Mine is one of 'em. Izzy will only...

    Lighting question:

Heya, Thanks for the reply. I was toying with the idea of moving the UV closer to the basking bulb.. But was worried that the heat emmiting from the bulb might damage the rubber holders on the UV strip (using a UVB controller which has 2 rubber/plastic caps, one each end with a cable running...
