Came across a Uromastyx this weekend

I started by taking Yoshi out just as his lights went on, so he wasn't warm enough to go mad running etc. hes all sleepy and floppy :) then he got used to me holding him knowing I wasn't going to hurt him. so now even when he's fully awake and warm he does his wiggle when I go tp pick him up but...

Came across a Uromastyx this weekend

Hey, the uro looks great :) The wiggle *From what I can gather* is kinda like a warning, letting you know he has a big tail and he can use it. When I first got my uro he used to run away, wiggle, whip and even hiss :( but he had not had much interaction at all before I got him so he has to get...

    New uro

Thanks guys I'll get some today :) I have noticed Yoshi only poos in the cooler side of the viv. He's usually in one of his hides in the warmer side where he sleeps alot. (I love getting up in the morning and lifting his hide up, he's all tired and floppy haha) I look at my watch before work...

    New uro

Hey Brandon I've heard a few people use bird seed but heard a couple of bad things also like you can't stop them from eating it so you don't know how much they've eaten and that they may accidentally eat their poop? I'm tempted to give bird seed a go though. i think Yoshi would like it :)

    New uro

Spot the uro :P I wasn't exactly happy about being given wood chips as substrate as i know all about impaction (luckily from reading, not experience) But he's never eaten any! and I put his food on a plate or in a dish so he can get it without eating the chip. Any advice on substrate for...

    New uro

Thanks for the comments! He is an ornate uro. His colours can be so bright. I got him from a friend who owns a pet shop. He said Yoshi was taken into the pet shop about a year ago because the owner no longer had time for him and couldn't give him the attention he deserves. He is handleable but...

No problem. I've not used a glass setup myself. I've only used wooden vivs with glass doors. so I can basically just screw light fittings to the ceilings or get hooks onto the sides etc. it may even be easier to find 2 long pieces of metal or wood, likeeee something to go across the top so you...

Is your tube in a fixture? or do the ends have long wires? could you not dangle the light in? just use something like sellotape to hold the wires in place at the top until you find something like 3M hooks?

Well they NEED the UV and having it the other side of the glass basically reduces the UV to zero. can you not get 3M hooks? or suction cups to mount the tube on the inside of the glass?

Where is your UV bulb? I don't see it? If it is above the viv then it's too far away, this could also be a problem. The dragon needs to be able to get within 6-12 inches of the UV bulb. if there's a screen on top then that will greatly reduce the UV also. But atleast you can start with changing...
