Moving across the country with beardie

Thanks so much everyone! All your advice is greatly appreciated. In addition, I'm also bringing my cat. This will definitely be an interesting trip but I know it will all be worth it in the end. Thanks again!

Moving across the country with beardie

Thank you AHBD and CooperDragon! Do you think she can hang out on the dash if the sun is shining for some warmth? Will she be ok for 2 days without food? If I bring an adjustable lamp to put over the tote for a few hours in the hotel, is it ok if it's only the heat lamp and not the UVB? I'm sure...

Moving across the country with beardie

Hello, Next month I'm moving across the country and I'm bringing my beardie, Bella. She is 5 years old, healthy, and tame. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced moving their beardie. How can I keep her calm during the move and make it less stressful? I'm moving in my car and I will need...

    Puffed up and angry!?

Thank you for your reply. I put a blanket over her viv because I figured she wanted to be left alone. She was better by 8:00pm, and now she is sleeping. Hopefully tomorrow she will be in a better mood. The wasp thing doesn't sound silly at all, I'm sure Bella would be annoyed as well. Haha...

    Puffed up and angry!?

Hello, My beardie is three years old and is always happy and loves to cuddle. Today when I came home from lunch she was all puffed up with a black beard and when I got closer to her she opened her mouth, as if she was going to bite me. This is extremely unusual for her - I've never seen her...

    Black beard

Even though no one has replied, I don't need anyone to after today. I removed the new log this morning and she has been fine all day. No black beard. The log must have made her mad. Sheesh... attitude much?! Gotta love beardies... :D

    Black beard

Hello, I've noticed the last few days that my bearded dragon has had a black beard. She seems to be normal as always, just a black beard. She isn't puffed up and she does not have any stress marks on her belly. When I take her out of her viv, the black fades to a lighter grey. She has been...

    Exercise

Hi, I'm just wondering how often beardies need to roam around to get adequate exercise. Izabella seems to just stand in one spot and not really move anywhere, but I want to make she is getting some activity into her lifestyle. She definitely lives a lax life. :) I would just like to see other...

My friend lost his 3 year old beardie...

Hello, I'm saddened to announce that my friend just lost his beardie of three years. She was healthy, lively, and happy - until she suddenly quit moving. She even pooped today and was moving around her viv, then she laid down and that was it. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I thought...

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

Honestly, I feel like if I do that then I will put myself in a more vulnerable position. Essentially, they could say "Okay, you have a reptile and we don't allow reptiles. You have 30 days to either move out or remove the animal." To them, this is great.. because then if we leave, there are 25...

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

morphmom, Thank you so much. It's nice to hear that, and I couldn't agree with you more! My husband and I feel the same way... our pets are forever not just when it's convenient for us. Izabella is part of our family and we would never just give her away or discard her like garbage. It's...

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

Thanks everyone for the advice and support! A few others were wondering why my landlord had to do an inspection and it was for refinancing purposes. The company who owns our apartment building owns many other properties, so I think they just did a quick inspection to evaluate their assets. I...

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

Microwaved sock of rice wrapped in a towel? Is this something I can make? I was also going to put her in a bag I have for extra protection. However, I will do whatever it takes to keep her safe and warm.

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

I have a little shoe box I'm going to put her in. It is cold out, about 30 degrees. So, I poked little holes on top of the box for when I walk in and out of work. I have my own office, so if I put her near my desk I think she will just sleep. I will either put her under my desk near my feet or...

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

Her light usually comes on around 8:30am and I plan on bringing her to work with me at 9am. Will this be okay since her light will be off for the night and then bring her to work without light for another 4 hours or so? Should I let her warm up a bit before we leave in the morning?

Randommonks, Thank you so much! That was great advice... I will look into it. Also, I will bring her with me to work tomorrow and throw a sheet over her viv.

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

Yeah that might work. I'm sure I could bring her to work, too. How long can she be without her lights and heat? I've taken her to places in the past, like the vet. If I can bring her to work for 3-4 hours, then that would be fine but I'm worried about her health.

Help! Need to hide Bella from landlord!

Brittani, I wasn't asking for your opinion or your advice on whether or not I should have a pet. I already have one, so your opinion is not needed. Also, the loving animal person that I am saved Bella when she had no where else to go and was near death. Would of it been more responsible for me...

That was really rude. Especially without knowing the history and the circumstances of our situation. Thanks anyway for your response.
