I think it's time to put my girl down

My female BD is nearly 12 years old now, and is having a hard time moving around and is not eating much. In fact her tongue comes out very slowly to get her food. Her eyes are alert for the most part, but I can tell her body is failing her. I dreaded for this time to come, but like all...

Who has lost their BD to old age?

Lately I have noticed my 11 year old girl is seemingly losing her eyesight. Since she was little, I have always hand fed her. Now she seems to go after my fingers or thumb instead of the Superworm I offer her. I have to time it just right so she gets the worm with her tongue, instead of my...

    Ugh.......lots of blood

My beautiful 11 year old female BD left a lot of blood from her mouth on her basking rock sometime this morning. I spent an hour cleaning her cage and giving her a bath from all the blood on her face, beard and left front arm. I have no idea why she did it, or what to do. She eats...

Nearly 11 years old and doing fine

My female BD is my first and only one. She will be 11 next month. :D We moved to Nevada from California when she was about 2 years old and I believe the dry desert air has done wonders for her aging process. Today's humidity is 14% at 89 degrees. It rarely gets over 25% here, even in...

    My BD scared me tonight

Got home from work tonight and found my 10 year old female had bled out her vent...........a LOT! I have absolutely no idea why. It appeared she pooped, but it was covered in blood and the blood had spread out in about a 10 inch circle on her paper towels. :( She has been living on Supers...

    Then and Now

I was going through some old photos in my Photobucket account and came across my little girl Goldie, when she was just a few weeks old on my keyboard. So, I decided to shoot a pic of her now at almost 11 years old in a similar "pose". What a difference! Then Now

    Really disappointed with PowerSun

Bought my first 100 watt Powersun bulb after using MegaRays for years. Our beardies lighting is on a timer, and I noticed it wasn't on this morning at it's usual time. Pulled the timer and plugged it in directly to the wall and confirmed the bulb was dead. It was delivered to us December...

How to tell when BD is nearing end of life?

Hi all, I have been wondering about something for a while now. My little female BD is nearing 11 years old now. She just got out of brumation a few days ago, but her appetite is down from normal, and she just doesn't seem as alert and active as usual. Her eyes are not wide and as observant...

    Does your BD eat rocks?

I really enjoy letting our BD outside in the dry Nevada desert here, but after a few minutes, she starts eyeballing rocks, sand, chicken poop, etc. Anything that can, WILL go in her mouth. So, I end up taking her back in the house for fear of impaction as I have read. Do they all do this, or...

    Belated crooked tail

What could cause my 9 year old girl's tail to develop a kink? Is it normal to do this? It has taken about a year or so to get to where it is now. It had no hint of a kink prior to that. Just curious as it obviously cannot be fixed, and doesn't really bother me too much. See the two pics below.

How old is your BD? Mine is almost 9 (w/pic)

Hi folks, I haven't been on in quite a while, but just realized the BD I got when I joined this forum, Goldie, is closing in on 9 years old. She is very healthy and alert and pretty much lived on Superworms, green beans or corn most of that time. No special powders, supplements or anything...

    My BD likes frogs

When the weather is sour like is it now (snowing), I let my little 6 y.o. female run around in one of the bedrooms. We have a frog doorstop she just loves to perch on. So, I decided to take a shot of her. Funny, after having her all this time, I probably only have about a half dozen pictures...

    My Beardie eats rocks

Well, I haven't allowed her to, but she swallowed a pea-sized piece of gravel yesterday. I take her outside whenever it is nice out, and she keeps going after rocks. She grabbed a sugar-cube sized rock the other day, but it was too large to swallow, and I got it from her. Today she seems...

    Brumation Frustration

I'm not sure if this belongs in the health section or not, because my BD seems very healthy. Anyway, my BD is an almost 5 y.o. female that brumates more than she is awake........and not my a slim margin. She sleeps probably 10 months out of the year. :( She seems fine otherwise, but wow...
