SIX Beardies, 2 Iguanas, 2 Rottweilers, 2 Turtles, 2 Fish

I think about Miss Tazzie often and did a board search for her, so I could see what's happened with her. I'm SO happy to hear that she enjoyed several more happy years with you. :)

Beardie fall, can't tell if she's okay

She is doing much better today - she's been getting the royal treatment with butter worms and sleeping on towels. It must have been something that scared her, I've never seen her(or any of my beardies) that freaked out before. Poor thing. Thank you so much for your help! :)

Beardie fall, can't tell if she's okay

Update: She's seemingly back to normal, and her foot seems to be fine again(she's running around). I'm still worried about her. Really hoping it wasn't a seizure. Any insights about seizure causes/treatment appreciated! :)

Beardie fall, can't tell if she's okay

She's an adult and she's had many big hornworms before, so it's unlikely that that was the culprit. What causes seizures? She's in such great health otherwise, I'm really worried. Is there anything that I can do to help prevent them in the future? It may also have been extreme fright - her...

Beardie fall, can't tell if she's okay

Hey all, Bean fell off of her log today(the tall one near the light). It's maybe an 8 inch drop from the log to the floor of the cage(which is lined in paper towel). Luckily I was in the room with her, and for a minute or so she was puffed up, black beard, running around the cage. At first I...

    Bean's follicle surgery/spaying story

Yes, I practically memorized every word in that thread while stressing about Bean's surgery. It was so nice reading about someone who (successfully!) went through the same thing.

    Bean's follicle surgery/spaying story

Hi all, This past summer was an incredibly tough one for Bean, and I wanted to share her story to hopefully get some information out there to beardie owners in similar situations, or who may suspect that their beardie is having trouble developing and laying eggs. In June I noticed that her...

    NYC anyone?

I'm in downtown Manhattan. Theres a great pet supply store on the upper west side that caters to exotics, called Fauna (I believe on 87th and broadway). Its really close to the Avian & Exotic Vet Center, where I take my bd.

    Sick/possible nausea

Beanie hasn't been doing any gagging since that night, so hopefully were okay. I've got her sleeping under her CHE where its about 85 degrees to help her fight off anything respiratory related until I can get her to a vet for a check-up.

    Sick/possible nausea

Good news! It seems as though Bean is feeling much better. I turned off her timer to let her sleep in(I stayed up with her until 2 am when she finally settled down) but she woke up at her usual time anyway. She has eaten a bit of salad and I've given her some probiotic. Still waiting on a poo...

    Sick/possible nausea

Thank you so much for your help! It really is such a worry. I've got her viv right next to my bed so I can keep an eye on things haha. I also have a CHE on above where she's sleeping. I figured the warmer temps may help her to digest(if it is digestive at all). A few minutes after I did the...

    Sick/possible nausea

Thanks so much for your quick response. I did a belly tap and she just sort of woke up and looked confused, but didn't look like she was about to throw up. Should I keep trying or just let her sleep? She's been up for almost 18 hours :( (got sick about 2 hours before bedtime) What should I be...

    Sick/possible nausea

Hi all, Bean isn't feeling too well tonight :( She's been gagging/twitching her head and arching her neck forward every 15-20 minutes as though she's going to vomit. She's asleep right now, but has her head up as though she's basking(eyes closed though). I tried to bundle her in a blankie to...

You know your a beardie slave when…

....when you'll happily stumble around a dark room looking for things so you don't have to turn on the light and face the stink-eye ....when you know the calcium:phosphorus ratio of most vegetables and fruits ....when you go 20 minutes out of your way to the farmers market for organic veggies

    Hurricane rescues

Thanks so much! No responses yet, but I also called my vet at the Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine on the upper west side and they confirmed that they are boarding reptiles as well. I'm taking care of my friends' beardie also, but there is still tons of room should anyone need the space...

    Hurricane rescues

Hi all, I'm in Lower Manhattan and just regained power to my apartment. If you or anyone you know in the area is out of power and worried about your dragon, I am more than willing to provide a temporary home until your electricity is back. I know how bad the power outages are and want to make...

    powers out

I'm in Lower Manhattan and we got hit really badly. Last night around 8 the power went out (from the con-ed plant exploding) and we lost cell reception. This morning my roommates and I packed overnight bags and headed uptown to a friend's house where there is power(we found a cab - thank...

    Worrisome "marbles" in belly

Thank you so much for sharing, and I'm sorry to hear about your little girl :( Bean is very lucky to have a great herp vet, but I've postponed the ultrasound as she seems to be doing well now, although I'm still keeping a sharp eye on her. She has perked back up and her appetite getting bigger...

    Worrisome "marbles" in belly

Thanks so much, Tracie! This is how I found her this morning - couldn't resist. She loves that stick so much for reasons I'll never understand. :blob5:
