    Sick Beardie?

That's what I heard, about the crickets. I usually leave some extra carrot pieces and slices of celery or lettuce in there for them to nibble on. Usually if I do that he doesn't have a problem with it. Most of the time, I will put in an estimated amount of how much Carth will eat and then keep...

    Sick Beardie?

Sorry, that was a BIG mistake. It is more like a 40 gallon. 4 ft.Long x 1.5 ft.Wide x 1.5 ft.Tall. And to answer the questions... How old is your dragon? -About 3 1/2 yrs. How long have you had your dragon? -About 2 yrs. How long is your dragon? -From head to tail about 1'4" What is the...

    Sick Beardie?

Okay, I'll try to replace that sand with something else like tile ASAP. And I feel so bad that I haven't been able to spend as much time with him as usual, but it's something I can't help. I'll start dedicating all my free time to him from now on, because I really don't want anything bad to...

    Sick Beardie?

Hey everyone, I'm having some problems with Carth, my 3 yr. old beardie. He just doesn't seem to be himself. Lately, he sleeps a lot and doesn't move around too much. His color is a lot lighter than it used to be as well. He prefers the cold side of his tank, as opposed to the warmer side...

Constant Gaping (Time for a vet appt.?)

I have a feeling that it could also be the temperature in my room. It gets REALLY hot in here sometimes (for some reason the AC doesn't work in here), and that could be a cause. I have been watching him, and he doesn't gape in the morning when it is much cooler. But, once it starts to heat up...

Constant Gaping (Time for a vet appt.?)

Hmmm... I haven't heard any heavy breathing, but sometimes he makes funny noises when I stop him from doing something (like, he goes to jump off my arm and I grab him, he kind of wheezes). I think that's just his way of venting frustration, or maybe he gets the wind knocked out of him :) .

Constant Gaping (Time for a vet appt.?)

Hello everyone, I have noticed that Carth tends to gape a lot more than normal. He does it a lot (more than usual) when he is basking, and gapes off and on when he wanders around my room. I was wondering if I should be concerned about a respiratory infection, or if maybe it is something else...

    This is normal right?

Hehe, my beardie does that all the time. Usually every other night or so. Only on the cold side of his tank though... I wonder if that has something to do with it.

    whip tail beardie

Yep, any of them will. When they feel like they are going to fall, or in danger of falling, they will flail around trying to find something (or someone) to hold on to. It's best not to stress them out too badly, so when you pick him/her up, use both hands and gently scoop or put one hand on...

    Beardie Burp // Hiccup?

Well, I just gave Carth his nightly bath, and, after drinking a little bit, I put him on the ground and he proceeded to scoot around on his belly (he does this often when he's shedding). Well, as he was doing this, he opened his mouth and kind of burped, or let out a quick discharge of air...

    Bearded Dragon Sticking Out Tongue

Haha, yeah! They have such odd feeling, almost rubbery tongues. I still don't know how he manages to suction crickets into his mouth. Its hilarious :D

What is the correct lighting for my baby dragon?

Hello, First off, congrats on the new beardie! Now, about the lighting... I got mine from a reptile store, so I'm not quite sure what it was called. I'm pretty sure it was Repti-sun 18". Not positive, though. How to find it? Well, if you absolutely can't find that 10.0 Fixture, it might be in...

Anyone had their timers not switch off over night by acciden

Well, I'm not quite sure on beardie sleeping habits. Mine will usually fall asleep when he feels like it, UVB or no UVB. Sometimes I leave it on until I go to sleep (around 12:00), when I normally turn it off around 9:30. He doesn't hesitate to sleep as much as he wants, especially when I wake...

    Blood in poop?

Hmmm... Well, not to be disgusting, but the reddish stain could (from what I can see) be his bowel fluids just absorbing into and discoloring the log. But, if you are absolutely sure that it is blood, because, of course, I didn't see it in person, it's probably in your best interest to see a...

    Bearded Dragon Sticking Out Tongue

I noticed that Carth, my male beardie, sticks his tongue out very often. He usually does it when I stroke his beard or when he comes across something new. Kind of like how snakes flick their tongues. A few people have told me that they believe it is how they smell, like most cold blooded...

Anyone else's beardie do this while shedding?

Nah, Pinkeys are high in protien and, although they are high in fat too, are generally a good treat. I feed Carth a pinkey mouse every few months for that extra spike in protien, but it will make him hyper and he burns off the extra fat lol. As for the digestion, Carth has never had a problem...

Anyone else's beardie do this while shedding?

WOW... I watched Malygos eating that pinkey mouse... Poor thing, when my lizard ate it, she got it down fast (with only a minimum amount of squals, hehe). She screwed that guy up pretty bad.

    Lizbeth (AKA Girlygirl)

For Girlygirl (Lizbeth): You came to me as a tiny, skinny, gaunt 2 year old bearded dragon. When I first saw you, I was skeptical that I would even like you. But, the first time I held you in my hand, and you look up at me with those bright brown eyes, I knew I would come to love you. Of...

    scratching to get out

Carth does that too, and he will also attempt to jump up the walls of the tank (and end up falling). I believe it could be caused by the sight of his reflection, and therefore trying to scare away a 'strange' dragon. The scratching could also be your bearded dragon trying to burrow, because...

My milestone event. Now with pics.

That's great! Unfortunately, my dragons came from my friend, was I was never able to have that experience. But, they are very tame and love to be taken out as much as possible. I hope Omar becomes like that one day :D . Ethan
