Not sure what could be wrong.....

Hi Janie, thanks for your reply... this is the setup we currently have: She is in a viv roughly 5' long. One end we have a basking spotlight - temps are 40-45c then we have a repti-glo 10 strip along the whole middle legnth of the viv with a small heatmat underneath just after the basking spot...

Not sure what could be wrong.....

Hi all. I have a female (we think!) beardie who is roughly 11 months old. She has always eaten well, been fairly active etc, but for the last week or two she has become quite subdued and stays at the cold end of her viv, looking dark and moody. She won't go and bask unless you put her there and...

2 females together... will they be quite happy?

Don't be silly - I didn't mean that you were sounding harsh, I can totally understand your passion for these gorgeous little things! It's just an agonising thing to decide even though we've only had her a day. She's not black today but big beardie will go over to wherever she is and get right...

2 females together... will they be quite happy?

Ethelia I'm not trying to find any old excuse to keep them both for the sake of it - I'm simply persuing all avenues so that we are 1000% sure of what to do. If we can't see any way that they might be happy then our new beardie will go back tomorrow :(

2 females together... will they be quite happy?

Would the size of the viv have an impact on how likely they are to be nasty to each other? I'm trying to take some pics of ours to post. How do you get the pics to show up in the post?

2 females together... will they be quite happy?

Hi everyone, and thanks for taking time to reply - I'm now worried that we've done the wrong thing - before we got any beardies we were led to believe that it was fine to house them together. Here's the answers to the questions which will hopefully give you a bit more insight to our setup...

2 females together... will they be quite happy?

Hi, I have had my first BD for a couple of months now and she is thriving. Yesterday we went to the store to get some crickets and decided to get her a friend. The new one is about 2 months younger and a little smaller. Once I got her home and came on here I came across a post saying that you...

First Beardie and love him to bits!

Hi all! We went to the store to get some crickets yesterday and came home with another Beardie! She's a little younger and smaller and so far she's very very black :? Am off to post just to get some reassurance that they will be ok together - I read a post on here just after we brought her...

How oftne does your beardie shed and how old is your beardie

Hi there, my beardie is about 7 months old, he was shedding when we got him about 6 weeks ago and has shed twice since. He got that whitish colour on his nose and legs almost as soon as he finished the previous shed. Seems they do it almost constantly while they are young as they are growing fast :)

Ok Fess up! Funny "pet names" for our beardies...

Our poor dragon never even got his real name - he was nicknamed BeardieBob and it's stuck! He does occassionally get called frog-face though. Poor thing!

    Changing colour

Do all beardies change colour constantly? I wanted to take some photos to see if anyone on here could determine what kind of line he might come from but he is different from day to day... some days he is really green, some days he has bright orange markings in his face and defining some leg...

    Eye popping/bulging?

Thanks for the link - perfect :) Freaky isn't the word!!

    Which plants can I add?

We have a pretty large viv and it needs an extra something. I'd love to have some kind of greenery in there that is not harmless to Beardie but am really not sure which we can use... I heard somewhere that you can use succulent cacti and then he can eat them but I'd rather have confirmation of that!

    Eye popping/bulging?

Why do they do this? My little man shuts his eyes, then pops them right out and rolls them around - is it some kind of eye cleaning they do?!

    Chewing on stone?!

The stone is just a normal grey/beige kind of colour, when we brought it home we boiled it so it was totally clean - it was just found outdoors. I put some new stones in there yesterday from the beach (boiled as well) and he had a nibble of those but not as bad. His mouth seems ok though, when...

    Chewing on stone?!

My beardie has a big stone slab for basking on. Ever since we put it in there he bites it. He's not biting bits off, but he looks like he's giving it a damn good try! You can hear his teeth grinding on the stone. Do they all do that? Could there be a reason for it?

First Beardie and love him to bits!

I was just looking for where to post pics - I'd love to know if there is a way to tell what kind of breed he could be from his colours? The sad thing is - we now take more pics of him than of the kids!

    Morning Black Beard

Hi there, I get this with my dragon too. We are often up before his lights come on and when he first gets out of bed he blackens up, flattens himself and puts his beard out for a while - he puts it in and out almost as if he is having a morning stretch!

First Beardie and love him to bits!

Hi all! I'm so glad to have come across this website, we've just got our first Beardie and have a million questions! Actually, if I'm honest, he's our second beardie. The first one we got from a guy who had bred them, I didn't recognise the signs that the dragon was sick and he died in a few...
