    setup for beardie eggs

I have the hovabator as well. Mine was purchased with a built in fan, but after having troubles with humidity i cut the wire controlling the fan, and its been perfect ever since. Flukers makes a great digital hygrometer/thermometer if you need a more accurate one...

When do I remove the hatched babies from the incubator?

should i keep them in the incubator but in a separate container from the eggs? the containers I have are pretty small, I dont want them making it more difficult for the other babies. Should I remove the shells?

When do I remove the hatched babies from the incubator?

So my babies started hatching last night about 1:30am or so. The first one to come completely out of his shell did so around 7 in the morning. I know that I should leave him in for at least 24 hours, but after that would it be wise to remove him and place him in a set-up tank? Should I also...

White Plains Show for Sunday, April 19th!!

so i went to the show and i was very much dissappointed. It was all ball pythons...all....balls....ugh. (for a time the bf and I were thinking of breeding beardies and ball pythons just so we could call our buisness Bearded Balls, but that idea soon fell through...) I have a ball python and I...

    grasshoppers??

oh god we have these in at work and when we first got them in I thought it was so creepy seeing them all chopped up with legs over here and heads over there. It was an interesting experience. How does your beardie like them?

I Guess They Really Like Me.

Meal worms are fine in moderation (as is the deal with most worms). Crickets should be the main feeder used. Keep in mind that most feeder insects, with the exception of some worms (like wax worms etc.) have an outer carapace. Mealies just have harder ones. As long as you dont go haywire with...

White Plains Show for Sunday, April 19th!!

In all honestly I didnt go for feeders last time. The only thing we picked up was a GIANT batch of frozen mice for a friends ball python, but that was about it. It was like, 100 mice for 20 bucks or so. :P Sorry wish I could tell you more.

    Inquiries about Incubation :P

I will probably switch to perlite (less chances with mold and everything I have read seems to point to it being easier to work with. It doesnt seem too difficult to find either) in the future but for now I have the eggs in the vermiculite. They seem to be doing fine, the condensation seems just...

I love responsible breeders like yourself. I work as a dog trainer and I have gotten into many an argument with people who breed for the money and not for the quality and health of the animals they bring into this world. Thats why we spent so much on the five beardies we now have, I wanted to...

How much is too much? (feeders)

Out of curiosity I was wondering how much is too much for a Beardie when it comes to insects. I know my adult lovelies would probably eat themselves to death when it comes to crickets. I give them anywhere from 20-40 crickets at a feeding. (only a few times a week, it would be much less...

    Inquiries about Incubation :P

Thank you for your honesty, observations and sharing your experience. I think I will have much better success with this second clutch. Im with you about the first ones, I think they are long gone, but who knows :| . I definitely would love to try the perlite. Do you use it yourself? What is...

    Inquiries about Incubation :P

 :blob8: :blob5: She did she did! :blob5: :blob8:  She laid 23 eggs this time. 3 of them I believe she crushed as she was re-burying the clutch, one had a thin membrane and was leaking, and another i believe was also punctured by her toe :/. But that leaves me with 18...
