Is my bearded dragon under weight?

He looks like he needs more hydration. I don't see the fat pads on the top of his head. How often do you bathe him, and for how long?

    Cleaning your dragon?

Don't dip your lizard into water that has soap in it. Remember they absorb water through the pores on their legs, so soaking him in the water with dish soap would be like letting him drink the water. Take a toothbrush, put a dab of soap on it, hold the beardie in one hand, and then scrub the...

Beardie throwing up, not eating *Update: Toby passed away*

Thank you very much everyone! Aron and I want to know what happened to little Toby. He seemed not so far along with his mystery illness, but it is not a shock to us either. I think I prepared myself for this outcome, I had a feeling he wasn't going to get through whatever he had. I'm just glad...

Beardie throwing up, not eating *Update: Toby passed away*

Well, Toby passed away today around 1pm, while I was at work. My husband was giving him a bath at that time, and Toby died in his hands. There is a pile of puke in the cage that is very brown, so we are assuming it is blood. Does anyone know how much an autopsy would run for beardies? And how...

    Mealworms are bad for beardies?

If your salad has spinach in it, don't let him eat it. Spinach binds to calciun, and his body can't absorb it. The calcium will pass through his body, along with the spinach.

I will post everything when I get home from work. Toby has stopped eating back in July, and I have been syringe feeding him every day, 2x a day. I have been using this: http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=14365. I was taking about a level teaspoon and soak it in some water to get it soft, fill...

3+ mo. old stopped eating, vet doesn't have answers

you can also try giving him some Benebac. Its a pro-biotic to help replenish the gut flora, which can be reduced when treated with antibacterial medication. The medication gets rid of all bacteria, including the good kind. A reduction in beneficial gut bacteria can decrease appetite.

    Unhappy Vet Visit

How can calcium be bad for a reptile? They need it to keep their bones strong, and to prevent MBD. Beardies need calcium 5 times a week, either by dusting their bugs, or dusting their greens. Make sure the calcium you get does not have phosphorus in it. Although calcium with D3 is good.

    Mealworms are bad for beardies?

For his bug-side of food, yes. Make sure to offer greens everytime you feed him though. Try mixing in the worms to trick the little man into eating some greens. Never, ever feed him regular mealworms. The ratio of chitin to meat is very high. Think of mealworms as a corn husk. Not much...

Beardie throwing up, not eating *Update: Toby passed away*

I have some pics of Toby: Full body view Head shot, along with some puke. I gave him a few drops of water from a dropper, and he puked it back up about 20 minutes later. Its the brown stuff on the towel. Top of head, which looks dehydrated some. But he gets baths every day, for a total of 30...

    Not Eating Normally

You should be using the calcium 5 times a week. 2-3 is not enough. Good thing you got rid of the sand. That causes impaction, which could kill a beardie. I see the light in the kit is a compact tube. Those are horrible for beardies. You need to get a fluorescent tube, like the one I linked...

Beardie throwing up, not eating *Update: Toby passed away*

Hello again, My beardie, Toby, is not doing well these past few days. I noticed about 3 weeks ago he developed a twitch in his head, and started to have balance problems. So I took him to the vet. Lo and behold he did not show the vet his twitch, and waited till they left the room before...

    Not Eating Normally

Red lamps are not good for beardies. They are able to see the wavelengths given off from the light. So, if you use this light during the night, it actually keeps them up. If you can, try using a ceramic heat emitter...

I've only used Olive Oil. I use a medicine/eye dropper. I get the dropper at my local Walmart, in the Pharmacy area where they keep the Eye products.

    Bearded Dragon Survey 2013

Can you add Superworms/Megaworms to the feeder list? All I saw were mealworms, which you shouldn't feed period. But it was the closest to Superworms, so I picked it anyways.

You can try giving her a little bit of plain applesauce once a day, until she goes poo. Or you can give her 1-2 drops of olive oil a day, until she goes poo. I have used the Olive Oil on my beardy, and it took him about 2 days to pass whatever was in him. It might take your girl longer though.
