is it really necessary to dust the crickets? i have been using a bearded dragon supplement food in with the greens/veggies and it contains some amount of calcium and protein etc. my beardie loves crickets as is.

i already put calcisand in my tank and after reading this thread i am curious if placing some form of slate on top of the sand in spots would be beneficial?
