I've had Daytona go from hand to floor before, she's always trying to leap off of something and hasn't come out any worse for wear yet. It's just something they do and the only way to keep it from happening is to keep them from climbing and they like to climb...so he/she should be alright from...
Here's a couple photos pf my other half showing off his new buddy, Holden the Python. Sorry about the quality, had to use the iSight cam on a friends Mac since my camera finally died a slow and painful death.
Daytona got herself a brother from another mother Saturday afternoon. Not another beardie but a Children's Python. I'm waiting for the jealousy glare when she catches me handling him. My very last table has turned into another tank stand, so I think it's time to start looking at building a rack...
A plush beardie would be great! I'm a sucker for stuffies. I have hedgehogs, alligators, cats, turtles, fish, frogs and even a vulture stuffie. This is one of those times I wish I could sew beyond replacing buttons and fixing socks!
This was a great post. Everyone I've run into on this site has been absolutely wonderful so far but you know what they say, one bad apple spoils the bunch. I know that when doing my own research on all of my menagerie I would get 5 different answers to the same question depending on what I read...
I know exactly how that goes, when I lost my Hemidactylus garnotii I wore myself half to death trying to find her. She actually turned up under the armchair in my living room and it took a good half an hour and two people to get her tiny inch and a half long self corralled. I was so happy I...
Awww...I'm sure Dexter will be alright. When I went on vacation I took ALL of my tanks over to the in-laws, I had a notebook filled with instructions for everyone and I still called at least once a day  . Even with all that Daytona didn't seem to notice that I had been gone at all. When I...
The hand warmers are a fantastic idea, I can't believe I hadn't thought of them before! I live in Florida so winter isn't usually an issue but we've already had a couple nights where the temperature has dropped into the thirties and if my power happened to go out I'd have been in trouble(my...
Well in extreme emergencies, and I've done this before, have a kerosene heater handy since there's no power required. Set it up safely and move any enclosures into that room. make sure you have some water handy for anyone that has humidity requirements as the heater will dry the air out like you...
I think I'm going to borrow the in-laws camera and see if she does it again this weekend. When I went to get Her Highness down out of the blinds the decided to climb all the way to the top of the window and cling like velcro.
It's always a good idea to secure the lids and clips are pretty cheap. I keep all of my enclosures locked to keep my three year old son out of them. Plus a couple of my herps are escape artists.
This has to be the most inconvenient time for my camera to not be working. Daytona discovered she can climb window screens today and is currently perched way up in the blinds between two of the slats. :laughhard:
I feel your pain, I once lost one of my geckos in the house for most of the day. I actually thought I had lost her for good since she's a very small Hemidactylus garnotii (only about an inch and a half long at the time and the same color as my carpet!). I'd go with the heat lamp idea since he'll...
I keep mine in the living room and she's always watching every little thing going on. I think she'd be a little lonely if I moved her into another room. Sometimes I'd swear she watches the TV.
Update:
Well it's been a couple days and she's still completely refusing to eat her greens. I think I'm going to go to the store today and see if I can get something a little different since she may be on a salad strike just because she wants something new. I've never had so much trouble with...
