Update!! not fungal, the vet did a biopsy and said that it was consistent with trauma wounds sustained when he was a baby before I got him. But still weird that they appeared suddenly and got darker? Will continue to monitor :)

He does it inside and outside of the tank, we thought he may need to poop so we took him out for a bath, he stopped the convulsions but no poop

I changed the uvb in September, his tank is about 18" high and the uvb is on top of the screen lid, is there a way to attach it to the inside? If it was neurological is there anything I could do for him?
