Seizures/prolapse/ vet says nothing wrong????

Hi. My beardie Mick has been having some trouble lately. Last week he had what appeared to be temporary prolapse (at his cloaca) and a seizure. We rushed him to an emergency vet as this happened once before last year and they did blood work and found inflammation in his blood. We ran the course of anti-inflammatory and antibiotics(i think) and he has been fine until now. We took him to the vet for them to tell us he looks perfectly healthy, no signs of impaction, and they did blood work which showed nothing wrong. (Although im not sure if this was a herp specialist or just the emergency vet available.) He has now been having these little seizures where his back feet clench together and he cant move them and he 'curls' up kindof like a C shape for a few moments and then is okay. He also had a very watery poop today which is abnormal as hes a regular healthy pooper. He has also started trying to 'eat' the glass, he looks like hes trying to get a worm but nothing is there. These little episodes have happened every day or every other day this past week and we are at a loss because the vet says theres nothing wrong (with a $500 bill). He is very active, loves running around the house and in his tank for the morning and then chills on his hammock most of the afternoon. He is in a 40 gallon tank (i just ordered a larger enclosure of 120gallons that will be here in a few weeks) with a 75watt heat bulb, and a reptisun 10.0uvb tube light. He has carpet and slate tile as substrate, i feed him superworms 2x a week and salad the rest of the days. I dust with calcium (without D3 as per vet recommendation) everyday and multivitam 2x a week. His basking spot is 36°c and the rest of the tank sits around 29°c . I got him 4 years ago as a rescue we estimate hes about 5 or 6 but could be older as there wasnt much info given when he was abandoned. Any ideas? Suggestions? Any help is much appreciated

Hello,

How old is the Reptisun 10 tube bulb & how close to him is it? Is the tube bulb on top of or
underneath of the screen top? Solely based on your description of his behavior, it sounds
neurological or calcium related. The calcium frequency sounds fine, no problem there.
If you can post a picture of your tank setup along with Mick, just so we can see the lighting
placement that would be great.
Are you in the US or the UK or Canada?
Is he off of antibiotics right now?
You could consider getting him some liquid calcium also, for a higher absorption rate. It is
used frequently for calcium issues.

I changed the uvb in September, his tank is about 18" high and the uvb is on top of the screen lid, is there a way to attach it to the inside? If it was neurological is there anything I could do for him?

At first it looks like he just wants to get out of the tank and run around. Lots of energy. I do see the issue though and it looks like a full body muscle spasm. I'm not sure what the cause of that would be. If you take him out to run around when he is up against the glass, does he wind up doing the muscle spasm outside of the tank too? Or does he move around normally?

He does it inside and outside of the tank, we thought he may need to poop so we took him out for a bath, he stopped the convulsions but no poop

Hi there, the good news is he's not sick at all. What is happening is that he sees his reflection and is wanting to mate. The movements are him simulating the motion. You might want to get him a small stuffed lizard toy to keep him on something soft so he doesn't hurt himself if his hemipene comes out. Poor guy does not know why he can't get at that other good looking dragon he sees. :)

Yes, some dragons will mate with a shoe, plush toy, pillow, etc. His back legs coming together is how he would clasp a female [ I bred dragons before ] and then they get in to a trance like state where they go stiff and a new owner wonders if they are having seizures.

Hello,

Yes, I agree with AHBD! After watching the video, he is definitely showing mating behavior!
They will act exactly like that, unfortunately but it will eventually pass. He is sporting a black
beard which is very normal also!

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
