    All Our Origins

Got mine from a reptile shop in Pittsburgh called Off the Hook Exotics, who I found out about when I went to the Pittsburgh Reptile Show and Sale (I had been curious to see what it was like, so drove the 2 1/2 hours, lol). I saw her orange color and had to get her. She's a little over a year old...

A bearded dragon from Santa Claus: CandyCane passed away :(

Those plushies are adorable! They'll make excellent stand-ins while you wait for the real thing. Your kids will be so hype! Looking forward to seeing that reveal video.

    Hammock or no hammock??

Hammocks are fine. It's recommended you get some made out of fabric instead of the mesh as to reduce the risk if their claws getting stuck in it. I bought a mesh hammock before I knew any better, so I just lined it with a fleece cover after the fact, and she's never had any issues with it. It's...

Can I paint my beardies nails with non toxic nail polish?

Ugh, why must you tempt me so? My beardie would probably sit still and let me paint her nails too, lol. Also, I didn't know that Piggy Paint brand existed. That's actually pretty good to know for myself. Always hated that regular nail polish smell.

Stimulation for dragon with MBD who can't/mustn't climb?

Hmm, maybe soft things, like small pillows, to climb around on/in? Or a small stuffed animal? You could also try a small, shallow container with a cut-out for keeping strips of fleece in as a dig box. Maybe he'd like to wiggle around in it?

    Just read the brumation info

Mine's actually brumating right now, and this was good info to know. Somedays, like today, she's asleep without moving, and other days she'll be awake for a few hours, and maybe scratch at the side of her hide or something. She actually got up and ate about a week ago, then conked out again...

    Waving

Waving is a sign of submission. Mine used to do it all the time when she was young after just getting her, as if to say "I am smol and you are big and scary, please don't hurt me". It was so cute. She hasn't done it in a good, long while (probably because she already knows I won't hurt her)...

    Ruby's New Tank, Opinions please?

That's a ball python, lol. Got confused for a sec. This thread is in the wrong section of the forums, but a mod might be able to move it. Anyways, all my snakes have Ultratherm heat mats from Reptile Basics. They're high quality, last for years, and have all sorts of sizes. There should be one...

    Beardie flower garden?

It's finally safe to start planting in Ohio without worrying about snow freezing my poor seedlings, so it's once again time to get started with planting! Since I have a bearded dragon now, I thought it would be fun to grow things she can eat! Funny enough, it seems the things I already have...

    Pooping during bath?

Yeah, it's fine. I actually bathe mine with the full expectation that she'll poop in the bath about 5 minute in. A lot of people's dragons will poop in the bath. I think something about being in the water must make them go for some reason. Mine used to poop at least once a day or more, but as...

    I need name help!

If you want to keep the Lion King theme going, why not just switch it to Nala? There's also Kiara, the name of Simba's daughter from the sequel. (I love those movies, lol) I feel you on the names thing though. I had a bunch of names picked out for a possible male, but ended up with a female...

    Snowed in

Do you have any of those little hand warmers/heat packs? Those can do well in a short-term outage. Also, worst case, remember that you, as a human, are rather toasty as well. I'm sure your beardie would be happy to snuggle with you to keep warm (I know mine is quite content to do so even with a...

    Snowed in

My beardie went around two days on just greens while I waited for more food to arrive, and she's younger than yours, so I think it'd be fine. See if your parents will invest in some Respashy Grub Pie, if you can. That stuff is a godsend for this time of year when feeders might be harder to get...

Tegu and a Bearded Dragon? Opinions Please

As long as they're separated and not out at the same time, and each animal is in a sturdy enclosure, I don't see the problem. Keep in mind a tegu is gonna need a LOT more space than a beardy...they get BIG. If you're new to reptiles, and especially if you're hesitant, I'd say wait a bit. Get...

    Darkling Beetles

Are they wild, or are they coming from pupating feeders? If they're coming from the wild, that might be harder to deal with. Pupating feeders can be dealt with by making sure they can't pupate anywhere they can crawl out from. For what it's worth, if they're the right species, and you catch...

What colour is your beardie? :)

Flame is very pretty. Gonna be interesting to see them as an adult. Thanks for helping me out with that! Girl, huh? Well, that narrows the potential name list considerably (most of the ones I was considering were for a male). I'm thinking Citrine might be a cute name. I like gemstones, and...

Question on Dubias and beardie tood

Just make sure the temps for your area are decent. Too cold and they won't make it. I live in Ohio, so it's been almost impossible to ship decent feeders outside of black soldier fly larvae (they're a little more cold hardy). On the plus side, there's like...zero maintenance with keeping BSFL...

    Spread Eagle

They do all sorts of crazy things. Also, love that dinosaur background!

What colour is your beardie? :)

She's like "how dare you call me lizard, hooman" Some of the normals have some really interesting patterning, I'm noticing. If I hadn't knee-jerked "omg orange!" when buying mine, I probably wouldn't have minded having a normal with an interesting pattern (definitely would have been...
