Is this the beginning of gout?

Hello,

Oh that makes sense! It isn't any fun though, having to give injections to a reptile due to having to
go in between the scales. I'm glad to hear that you are comfortable with them.
How is he doing today?
Sorry to hear about your daughter but it sounds like she is doing well!

Oh yeah, my daughter's fine.

Yeah, I messed up yesterday morning. I didn't know what to expect, so I poked him, and he pulled away. I had to poke him again. But otherwise, it was pretty easy.

He's not moving too much. I'm still worried about him. He eats fine, but isn't lifting himself up or walking. I'm hoping it's just weakness from the recovery process

An excellent update: I came home to find that Thor is starting to gain his strength back. He still trembles when he walks but I think it's because he's still weak. He's using all his legs again, only slightly favoring the ones that were swollen. He was very happy to see me today. He ate greens while I was gone, and so I gave him two hornworms today. That's how I tested his walking. I put them on the other side of the cage and he went for them.

As he headed back to his warm side is when I noticed he's walking better. He wasn't motivated by anything to move around his house, and he still tried to walk normal. I hope these antibiotics will fix whatever caused his weakness.

Well, Thor has pretty much recovered from what I can see. He is still weak on the back end, but he's walking normally. He just walks shorter distances. His pace is picking up speed. He's not favoring any legs and he's using all his legs properly. There's just a tad off stiffness in his left rear, but it gets less as each day goes by.

I bought bsfl for him, but he's barely interested. I read that the antibiotics might make him not want to eat, so I'll struggle through the next 1.5 months and see if he doesn't feel better after the injections are done.

Hello,

That is great to hear Thor is doing quite a bit better. You can try doing some water therapy to see if that
will help strengthen up his leg muscles. Try encouraging him to swim & move around in the water all the
time keeping your hand in the bath, with him.
At least he is getting stronger & using his legs more now. It will take some time but it sounds like he is
recovering nicely.
Keep us posted on his progress. Yes, antibiotics do have a tendency to decrease appetite sometimes,
because it upsets their normal flora in their tummy. You can give some probiotics to help out for him.

You can supplement sone Oxbow critical care into his diet, it is fantastic during recovery. You can get it on Amazon.

Yeah, I keep it stocked all the time. I am giving it to him once a week (he gets it tomorrow) but I'm thinking I might do twice a week until antibiotics are done.

What type of probiotics? I use oxbow critical care for omnivores to help with his appetite. I think maybe I should switch to herbivore because his BA is elevated, would that be a good idea?

He's only ever been soso with baths, but I did actually give him a couple baths since all this began. I stay right by his side, but he just stayed at the shallow end and got dark. Usually he likes when I let the water trickle on him but he didn't even want that.

He isn't interested in the bsfl either. I'm gonna try silkworms next.

Hello,

You could switch to the Herbivore care instead of the
Carnivore care, for less protein. It might help taking
in less protein for his system right now.
A probiotic is always helpful during the regimen of
antibiotics & for a couple of weeks after the treatment
ends.
He will probably like the silkworms, they are very healthy for him.
Let us know how things are going!

His poops continue to be healthy. I decided to do proteins on the days I do his shots. He's up 30 grams, and his fat stores are filling in nicely. Today, after his injection, he lunged a little at me, so the treatment is definitely working. I would be mad if someone kept stabbing my arms too.

Today though, I gave him a whole pile of bsfl, and amazingly he ate so many! But, when I came home from errands, he had thrown them back up. He's never thrown up before. None were digested, so I think he maybe ate too many. So weird, because normally he won't eat bsfl.

Anyway, one of the errands I did was getting him a new UVB. I got the Arcadia 14% T5 HO, I had the 12%. He's roughly 13 inches away right now, but he's all over his house now and I needed something stronger to reach him when he's just sitting on the floor.

I got a good shot of his little teefies while he was thermoregulating.

Hello,

That is a great picture of him basking! His teeth are looking fine.
The Arcadia D3 14% T5 tube is a really great bulb, so I hope he likes it!
He probably did eat too much & too fast if he threw up that quickly. That does happen though, so
hopefully he will continue to have a good appetite.
I am sure he is tired of getting injections too! He tried to bite after his shot? They can really clamp
down sometimes!
I hope he is feeling better soon, keep us posted on him.

Yeah, he's never bitten anyone before, but he's probably over the shots. But we are halfway done. And he's shedding everywhere, so there's that.
