HELP Need Someone to Take Special Needs Beardie

Hello everyone. I need someone to take my special-needs bearded dragon.
I live in northern Indiana And would be willing to travel a distance to transport him if needed.
I have had many beardies before but it has been a few years. I decided I really missed having one and so I got a little guy it was super cute. He was fairly small definitely oh my couple months old.

He is super cute and has some red and orange in him.
His name is Norbert (don’t know if there any Harry Potter fans out there)
Unfortunately, the little guy is blind :(

At first I didn’t really notice anything was wrong. He ate some worms but would not eat any crickets. Didn’t really seem interested in greens either. I thought he was just needing some time to adjust. Well, I put him in the van to eat crickets and that’s when I noticed that he was trying to eat them but he couldn’t and he kept running into the walls of the cricket bin. I took him out and started moving my hands around his face and shining a light around and that’s when I realize he didn’t respond to that at all :?

I really don’t know what to do. I keep trying to give him worms and food and he’s just not eating. I work almost 60 hours a week and so does my significant other. He is probably going to need to be syringe fed. I just do not have time to take care of a special-needs lizard.

He was getting very weak and very thin. I got another beardie at the same time and he is about three times the size now of little Norbie.
He’s such a sweet, cute little guy.
I would post pictures but I don’t really know how to on here.
If someone could tell me what to do with the pictures or I can send you pictures as well.

I love this little guy. Please help us.

Also, if anyone has any ideas of how to keep him alive and well until someone could take him I would appreciate it.

I'm sorry to hear you have to find a new home for Norbert. It does sound like he will need extra attention and care. Have you tried dropping some baby food on his nose for him to lick up? That may be the least stressful way to syringe feed him if he isn't going after food on his own.

You can upload photos here https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ and post them to your thread using the XIMG button when you reply.

Hi firedragon28,
We wanted to give you a status update on Norbert, or Norbie as we’ve been calling him! He’s doing pretty good, is getting used to his new surroundings fairly well. He loves attention, being held and snuggling ☺️He also likes running up our hands and making you keep rotating them so he can run. Norbie was a little bit picky about eating at first, we’ve been syringe/assist feeding him to get his strength built back up, he is much perkier and runs around his tank like baby Godzilla, it is adorable 🥰. Attaching a picture for so you can see how he’s looking now! Thank you for allowing this precious little guy into hearts, will try to post pics for you as he grows!

I have a special needs dragon, it takes someone just as special to care for them. My Mel was not taken very good care of by his previous parent and I took him to the vet soon after getting him and he tested positive for coccidia and pin worms, the vet used the term infestation to describe the amount of parasites. I've been giving albon and pyrantel since late September and he finally is coccidia negative and only has 7 pinworms so 1 more round of pyrantel and he should be clear.

Unfortunately because of the infestation he has quit eating on his own and I intervened after he lost 40g in a couple weeks. I syringe feed him oxbow omnivore critical care and he makes this process super easy! I put some on his lips and as soon as he starts licking I just continue feeding and he licks it up like a cat laps milk, it's really cute. He has gained almost 80g since I intervined. I'll do whatever it takes to make Mels life as comfortable and long as possible, that's what we do when we choose to be a parent of a beardie, some days it isn't easy but I imagine being him and it stops being hard

aww so cute :) thank you for taking care of the special beardies that just need a little more love than others:> also just to let you know coccidia is very common and comes from the way you take care of bugs for example if you dont clean your crickets box everytime you get more crickets that can easily give your beardie coccidia

I clean my cricket tank at least twice a week if not more. I'm very certain that they had the parasites when I got them, I also adopted a older female from the same person and she also had the same infestation but she's kept her appetite luckily.

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
