    R.I.P. Freddie

Well our beloved Beardie Freddy passed last night from a large Tumor located on the back of his head. He was a beautiful beardie with a great personality and convinced several friends and neighbors to get or at the very least not fear reptiles. He grew to 22.5" and had a great yellow color with...

    Viv pics only thread

It is a little bare right now because the vet didn't give Freddie very long to live and the poop is going everywhere when does go. He has a large tumor on the back of his neck. I did want to make sure I posted pics. IMG_0015 by Whispersinmyhead, on Flickr IMG_0013 by Whispersinmyhead, on...

    Cage question

Some sample pics of my current beardie enclosure and unfortunately due to a tumour diagnosis he won't make it too much longer. :( But I think we are going to convert this cage. I am going to move the electrical switches down to the inside the cabinet. I have to screen off the lights and put a...

    Large Lump?!

Yeah I just have to figure out when I can get him in. Thanks for the help and support. I will keep you posted. Any other ideas in the meantime won't hurt. I can't seem to find a similar story on the net yet.

    Large Lump?!

I really haven't thought about it until now but I had him in his rubbermaid container when I was cleaning his cage three days ago and he figured out how to get out of it. The sides are pretty tall but he managed to jump and climb out and I put him back in but he did it three times because he...

    Large Lump?!

I use the reptisun 10.0 tube He can get within 8" of it. Basking spot is 105-106. Cool side is around 80. He is eating normally for this time of year. He is a little slower in winter. The lump is soft to the touch.

    Large Lump?!

I do remove them but obviously miss a few that hid in deeper crevasses. I already posted that I remove the problem log now and going foreward. It was an accident that I missed the crickets. I have tried repeatedly to feed him in a bin and he refuses to eat. I will post a pic tonight if I have...

    Large Lump?!

I didn't realize that crix were hiding in the deeper pores of the new log and once I got the mall out I fed last night after removing the log and captured uneaten crix and then put the log back in. The only other abnormal thing that has happened was when I was cleaning his cage two days ago I...

    Large Lump?!

I just noticed tonight that my beardie has a large lump on the back of his neck/head. It is the size of a standard marble! I didn't notice it there at all before today and I hold him at least a few times a week and almost everyday when I can. He has always been under reptisun 10.0 and temps...

    Wood questions?????

I stained the inside of the cage and just did 4 good coats of sealer (Water based). If you are sealing it, there won't be an issue. No fumes at all in mine but I let the stain cure a week or so and then the sealer about the same if I remember correctly. If it is wood you need to at least seal it...

    Wood questions?????

Oak ply stained and sealed well. I just used and minwax oil based stain and then sealed with Minwax Water based oil modified polyurethane. It is non toxic once cured I let it cure for over a week just to be safe. I also siliconed the seams on the inside to keep any water accidents away from the...

    Cage question

Thanks so much for the help. I haven't purchased the ball python yet. I am just getting my research done first and I want to have a cage ready. Before I get the snake. I decided to keep our Beardie to as I realized that ball pythons do better in smaller enclosures and I want to use a UTH for...

    Wood questions?????

Are lights inside the cage ok for a snake? I haven't had one before and I wouldn't want it to reach up and burn itself. The wire is all the same as you would find in the walls of you house as are the mounted fixtures. I already built it for my beardie but looking into the possibility of...
