    Post-Brumation Diet

This morning I heard Izzy scratching in her hide so I decided to give her a bath. Instead of drinking from a eyedropper like she usually does she took straight to the water in the bath and drank on her own. So when I put her back in the viv I gave here some blueberries. She jumped on them. I...

Best reptile store in Toronto area...

I have to admit I agree with some of your comments on D&D. I didnt buy my beardie there but they are so close to my work that I buy feeders there. My nose still turns up by the smell of the place every time I go there. They are renovating and hopefully the place cleans up. That being said...

    Two quick ?'s

My first brumation (well not me - my dragon). She is staying in her hide. Last poop was clear of parasites. During lights on she will open her eyes. 1. I have heard her digging in her hide a few times. She is on a hard surface (hodge podge). Should I consider giving her somthing to...

Best reptile store in Toronto area...

I got my beardie from All Reptiles. Reptile King in North York. Out in Oshawa there is D&D Exotics. Peterborough is Capital Dragons if you are looking for interesting colors or bloodlines.

Thinking of giving my beardie away to Petsmart >:((

When we first got our baby a little over a year ago I had the same frustrations. My wife was upset that I bought a "dud" because she read that BD`s are docile. She would run away when I tried to catch her. Bite my finger (didn’t hurt). Hiss. Tonnes of drama. I persisted. One thing I did...

Beardie is burrying herself in sand, is this normal?

I see that nobody replied so I will try and give you some direction but I am still a learner here and not experienced to be a teacher yet. 1. I don't know what you have and have not learned about sand. I suggest this post for some education on the drawbacks of sand...

    He jumped! Why?

Mine jumped once when she saw a larger bird fly overhead. A natural predator from what I am told. Who knows what he saw that you didn’t.

    brumation w/ eyes open

After a vet visit and discussion here http://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=134235 I suspect my beardie is going into her first brumation or semi-brumation. I put a hide in her cage and she is staying in it all day and night. But during the day she is "awake" in there - I...

    another sick beardie

I took her to the vet. No x-ray. The vet did a physical exam and said there were no eggs. The vet was concerned about her belly seeming big and perhaps "full of fluid" and suggested egg-yolk peritonitis as a possibility. I didnt think her belly looked any different than usual. because she...

    Coccidia count? or no count?

What she said to me that she sends to a lab (in a little collection bottle) and they report back positive or negative for coccidia. Said that because of the centrigugial metiod they use and because of varrying amounts of fecial material thier method does not provide a way to give a count. She...

    Coccidia count? or no count?

I really thank you for your reply and it does help. Funny that I pushed her on this point and she was very firm with A) she uses a lab B) the lab uses a centrifugal method that can't give a count C) when I mentioned owners buying a scope and slides she said that this "float" method was not...

    Coccidia count? or no count?

My vet is a well respected herp vet for our area. One of the few who knows anything about reptiles at all. She says that the way their lab tests for coccidia (centrifugal method) they can only report back if coccidia are present or not-present. If the lap reports back positive for coccidia...

    another sick beardie

Definately not mated. But it seems to me about 3-4 weeks ago she was going crazy up and down the glass and climbing. I said something and my wife said she does that all the time. It thought it was a bit excessive. Since Im at the vet today I will ask for a x-ray.

    another sick beardie

My wife reports that she spent the whole day in her new hide but caught her scratching, not napping. Is that a sign of brumation or something else?
