    Which carpet?

Sorry forgot to mention, this is for a temporary/quarantine enclosure, so tile wont work. I have tile lying around I wish I could use, but it would be a severe hassle to cut round, so pretty much carpet is the only semi-permanent option. I feel like paper towel would be too expensive, but open...

    Which carpet?

http://www.reptilesupply.com/popup_image.php?pID=1683 or http://prmeetsmarketing.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/astroturf.jpg turf seems a little weird to use, but the way everyone says not to get the carpet with loops, it seems that maybe turf is what they really mean? If someone has a good...

Classic PowerSun problems but w/ a MegaRay

600W rated porcelain base on ceramic tile.

Classic PowerSun problems but w/ a MegaRay

I didn't turn on the MegaRay today, and no improvement yet. I have already had to return one faulty bulb to Mac Industries, and they don't cover return shipping, so if this is another bulb issue I know for a fact I won't want a replacement, I would expect a refund. On a side note, whats up...

Classic PowerSun problems but w/ a MegaRay

100 watt bulb, just measured at 16.5 inches from basking point.

Classic PowerSun problems but w/ a MegaRay

I would have to measure to be exact, but it is a 2 foot high enclosure with no furniture with a low profile socket/fixture, so the base of the bulb is right up to the top of the enclosure. From the front of the bulb to the tile I would say it is about 15 inches or so, I will measure it in the...

Classic PowerSun problems but w/ a MegaRay

Hey everyone, Our male beardie started showing the classic PowerSun problems from a while back about 3 days ago, but both of our beardies are under a 2 month old MegaRay. Soaking seems to help, but he still has the one eye closed all the time, and often rubs it on the tile. We have a pair...

    Feeding/Husbandry Details

Hey everyone, We just got our first two beardies this morning and want to make sure we are planning everything right. 1 male hypo citrus and 1 female citrus, currently being housed together in a Crossfire-ish enclosure. I know separate enclosures would be better, and as soon as we can afford...

    Fake rock questions

Hey everyone, We have the materials ready to be put together for our Crossfire enclosure, but we are thinking about adding some aesthetics before we put it together to make it easier. We are deciding between just a solid acrylic paint with maybe some sponge texture or doing a shallow fake rock...

    Glass vs Plexi

Thanks for the glass lesson, it actually helped a lot. I think I am going to ask for 1/4" tempered and I will definitely want smoothed out edges. If the price is ridiculous then I will look into some of the other options or go a little thinner. Thanks again, and I am off to the glass shop.

    Glass vs Plexi

It will mostly come down to price, but I would much prefer tempered glass. The breeder is using 1/4" glass in all of his enclosures, and at that thickness I doubt it is tempered.

    Glass vs Plexi

Wow, only 30 bucks. Much better than I was expecting. I am assuming you feel comfortable with the strength of the single pane tempered, or if you had to do it over again would you go stronger?

    Glass vs Plexi

Hey everyone, We are debating on whether to use glass or plexiglass for our more or less Crossfire enclosure. I have found a ton of places that sell plexi, but no one cuts it, which is a pain. I am going to a local glass specialty store tomorrow about cutting glass and plexi if I find it, and...

*Just Upgraded* - Thinking about upgrading - almost a year o

First thing is to definitely get an IR thermometer to check your basking temps. Make sure you are replacing the UVB tubes every 6 months too. Other than that, your setup seems alright apart from the size and maybe the sand. If you want to keep using sand for aesthetics, I think you should...

    Baby beardie enclosures

We found a deal on a sheet of melamine, so we have the major material for one of the Crossfire cages ready to go. We are going to keep a lookout for another deal and get another sheet for the second enclosure. We bought some nice ceramic tile to use for the substrate, but I don't know whether...
