    bulb keeps burning out

We actually have 2 UVB lights, spanning the length of the cage. My plan is that once it reaches the end of its shelf life I"ll move it to the cool side so there's always a full strength one in the basking and a little extra for the rest of the tank. Do the halogen flood lights have the heat...

    bulb keeps burning out

We have recently completed an enclosure for our bearded dragon. He moved in this spring. The only issue so far is the basking bulb has been burning out extremely quickly. I finally kept track with this last one and it didn't even last a month. It is mounted to the wooden ceiling with a ceramic...

Placement of my UVB Tube Light

We have two separate fixtures running the length of the cage. My plan is to keep the newest bulb on the basking side, and when its potency runs out I'll move it to the cool side and install a new one on the basking side. I'll have to get some pictures posted of Spike's new home!

    New to Beardies seeking advice

We started a roach colony in a big rubbermaid bin. We started with 5 female and 1 male roaches, and after 6 months or so we've never had to buy insects again. They reproduce plenty fast to keep up with the demand for our beardie (also Spike). They're a lot easier to handle than the crickets. We...

    Feeding Adult - Newbie

This is what I prefer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010CY7NJY/ref=sspa_dk_detail_7?psc=1 I fill up a cottage cheese container with filtered water on my desk, add a pinch of the polymer crystals, and keep a big spoon to dish it out. If the polymer hasn't filled the container (absorbed all the...

Placement of my UVB Tube Light

I have a similar question. We're building an enclosure that is 48" wide x 22" deep x 28" tall and are planning to run two 22" florescents for UVB and light in general. Does it matter whether we run them across the top or the back of the enclosure? I was thinking the top would offer more coverage...

    Feeding Adult - Newbie

Wow, that sounds great. I'll have to give it a try.

    Feeding Adult - Newbie

We use the water they sell for crickets. It's a yellow gel stuff, so they can't drown in it. https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/food/flukers-calcium-fortified-cricket-quencher-298.html?cgid=500100

    tile questions

Oh, I like the ceramic dish idea. Right now we've got a glass tank and they just run and hide under something before they get eaten. This would keep them in place.

    tile questions

Thanks for the quick responses! I'm still interested to hear what others are doing, especially how to seal the wood under the tile. Another question that is semi-related: we're feeding dubia roaches, which can't climb out current glass cage but I imagine will be able to climb the wood. What are...

    tile questions

We're building an enclosure so Spike can move up into bigger and better spaces. It is 4'x2'x2', made of wood with a sliding glass front. We have purchased some tile after researching different floor options. My question for those of you who have it is how to seal under the tile to keep liquids...

    new here

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new here. I've been lurking on and off but finally decided to register so I can participate in discussions and not just read them. We've gotten lots of great ideas as we build a new enclosure for my son's beardie, Spike.
