    General Snake Advice

Kenyans are awesome, but can be picky eaters like balls. We've got one and she's been a joy thus far. All in all, I'd say weigh out the good and the bad on a Kenyan and if it falls in the favor of good...go get one! God Bless, Aaron

Remember we tried the whole breeding thing last fall? Good &

That's awesome! Congratulations on the eggs. Mothers usually do a pretty good job taking care of them, the only reason people really incubate is to increase hatch rates and to get the mom on a feed schedule to breed the following season. God Bless, Aaron

    Big Cut Back

Hey All, Long story short, we need to cut back our collection pretty severely to be able to keep on keeping herps and doing the things that we love. We will be selling off a large chunk of the animals at really low prices to get them moved out. It hurts, but it's something we've needed to do...

    What to do?

You have a few options here. 1. Be PATIENT....you just need to wait until the next morning and the risk is pretty well gone. 2. Get one of your snakes on a different feed schedule than the others. 3. Handle before feeding, if the snakes will still feed after handling. The easiest option is...

loss of smell? cornsnake having problems?

I have to doubt that an RI of any severity could damage the Jacobsons organ or the tongue. It's probably more likely that it is a humidity or heat issue. What are your temps and humidity at? If this continues I would think about getting him another check up as the infection may have taken hold...

    Dwarf Retic?

Anything over 30 feet has never been confirmed. A few places have open cash prized for any snake over 30 feet...If I remember right National Geographic was offering 1 million for a live 30 footer. God Bless, Aaron

    Dwarf Retic?

That's the size of fluffy, Bob Clark's former burm... You can probably sense my hesitation to believe. Again, not trying to be a jerk but that kind of snake would put you in the ranks of only a handful of keepers in the world. Got any pics? What kind of enclosure did you use? Feedings? God...

I'd wait for a shed. It looks like a case of damaged scales to me. God Bless, Aaron

    Dwarf Retic?

Wow..retics get 30ft +? Dwarfs are half Island variants, supers are pure...but 10 feet is still not uncommon. A 30 ft retic simply does not exist...and males very commonly get larger than 15 ft. A ten foot blood python is also VERY unlikely...but I think the idea you're going for is solid...

    That Scary Nasty First Bite...

I don't remember pulsing, but it was a long time ago. And thanks. The worst bite I ever got was...from the same burm, no joke. It was the day after I gave a college presentation on snakes and explained that she was "just a little sweetheart". I put her back into her cage and reached over her...

    That Scary Nasty First Bite...

My first bite was from a western fox snake or something of the like. I don't really count that one. My first real bite was from a burm. Now that was interesting...didn't hurt much but their teeth are designed to go straight to the bone so it just bled and bled and bled. It was awesome. God...

    Dwarf Retic?

Think Retic, just "dwarf". By dwarf I mean most of them only get to around 15 feet. Super dwarf tics max around 10. Still big, just not BIG BIG BIG...lol. Care is the same as other tics, just their temperament is usually a little different. Jampeas tend to be more docile, most Selayers I've...

    My new snake has problems.

Low humidity is usually what causes an RI in the first place with tropicals, the opposite with low humidity species...that coupled with improper temps. We always increase the temps a bit, get the humidity to normal levels and give injections. Haven't had one in a while, but that's whats been...

    My new snake has problems.

Humidity needs to be 60%, if it's not that could be a problem. Also, why not injections? They are far more effective than oral meds, and easy to give... God Bless, Aaron
