Weirdest thing your beardie has eaten?

My dogs tear the green fuzz off tennis balls and Loki always goes for the bits if he gets a chance. He has also tried to eat fabric scraps in my sewing room. :)

Yep he's just about 10 months.

Head bobbing and black beard while roaming

Since Loki is the first beardie I've ever known, I'm still figuring out his body language. The last few days I've noticed when he's out and about, roaming the house (which he seems to love), he has started getting black beard and head bobbing at nothing. Is this a territorial thing? It seems...

Need to replace my UVB fixture

I ended up buying a Zoo Med Reptisun hood to replace the homemade fixture. With the reflector I think he's getting more of the light than before. Wish I could afford a UVB meter to make sure everything is good, but I'll have to rely on his health for that and just make sure I replace the bulb at...

Will he go back to eating dubias?

Well just an update... I am going to see if I can wait him out. I have been checking his weight and it's not going down, and his activity level hasn't changed, even though he's just eating 0-1 roaches a day plus greens. I will keep offering the roaches every day before he gets his greens and...

Will he go back to eating dubias?

I got a batch of dubias last week to see if Loki likes them, so I could decide whether to get a colony established. Well, he ate them like a champ the first day, just a few the next day, and now he's either ignoring or just half-heartedly licking them. He ate just salad yesterday, and I offered...

What do you love most about your beardies?

This is a "just for fun" topic. :) I have only had Loki for less than 3 weeks but I think my favorite thing so far is how he snuggles in and goes to sleep on my chest every night. He already seems to expect it - the first few nights he put himself to bed but since then he seems to wait for me...

Need to replace my UVB fixture

So, the UVB fixture (a T8) that I got with my Loki's setup (off Craigslist) is homemade and I am not sure about the quality of the light even though I am using the correct bulb, plus I'm afraid it's going to poop out any minute since you have to wiggle wires to make it work. Probably not too...

Questions about setting up dubia colony

I'm looking at this one: Zoo Med Under Tank Heater which actually says it has one adhesive side to "stick" to the bottom of a terrarium, but I'm not sure how hot it gets at the surface? Could it be stuck to the bottom of the tote or would it get too hot, with or without a thermostat?

Questions about setting up dubia colony

Loki had his first dubias today and he nommed them very happily, so I'm going to try to get a colony going now. :blob5: I have a Rubbermaid tub that I believe is a 14-gallon that I'm planning to use. What size heating mat would I use to get the right temps? I'm planning to use a tip I saw in...

Calcium - Can you Overdose and Give Your Dragon Too Much?

General rule of thumb is dust feeders once per day for 5 days per week with calcium, and the other 2 days a week dust once with vitamins.

    My little one!

D'awww, cute little tyke! A suggestion I've seen on this forum is to put the crickets in a baggie and pop them in the fridge for a few minutes to slow them down before feeding. I bet he would appreciate that!

    What to feed Dubia Roaches?

That's what I was thinking, just wasn't sure if there was any difference in the livestock feed vs. the small animal pellets. Sounds like that's the way to go! I'm getting my first small order of dubias tomorrow and if Loki likes them I'm going to get a colony started.

    Loki loves to roam!

Loki was tearing all over the place earlier today, covered a lot of ground. He's been doing something new the last couple days, puffing up his beard and looking grumpy first thing in the morning - I can relate! He gets over it very quickly though. Tonight I took him out for "bedtime" a little...
