So I'm using paper as a substrate for my baby beardie in their 40 gallon but since it's quite cold at night I was going to put in a heat Matt my problem is should I mount it on the side of the tank or is it suitable to go on the bottom even though I'm using paper as a substrate

See the problem I have is I have a front opening cage so there is no way I could put a hood in there

Its a 24 inch T 8 and im having no luck finding fittings at all my local store keeps trying to push Mercury vapour bulb's at me but I really don't want to have to buy another ceramic fitting with a hood this is what I had btw
