Hi Tracie,
Squirt has been done with his medicines for awhile now (about a week and a half) and I gave him soy yogurt for a couple days as a probiotic. There are days where he is insanely active and thriving, then there are days he is
black bearding and hiding in his cage. Whenever I get him out of his cage his
black beard clears up, so I’m not sure if it’s for pain or for boredom. He has been gaping a lot since I raised his heat in the cage, but then he started gaping an extreme amount, sometimes even when he wasn’t in the heat or even out of his cage. This behavior paired with the inconsistent
black bearding made me think he had a respiratory infection, especially because I had a giant water bowl in there a couple weeks ago, however, he isn’t coughing or has any mucus so that might not be the case and his activity level was back to normal yesterday. What hasn’t still changed throughout this entire process is his appetite, still won’t eat greens or the roaches in his cage. He will occasionally eat superworms (1-4 a day) if he’s feeling them, otherwise, he is getting baby food for the most part. I am running out of ideas to fix his appetite so I order supplements off of Bug-de-lite, like colladial silver and a few others.
