My beardie just got a clutch of 16eggs yesterday, couldn’t get my hands on perlite and vermiculite at the moment so i only got both peat moss and zeolites on hand that’s available. Used the peat moss for now but seems like the water retention aint so good as it dries up too fast. And the eggs are starting to deflate, tried putting damp kitchen towel but still deflated. Candled the eggs and saw veins so definitely fertile.

Main question i read zeolite absorbs and retain more water so wondering if anyone tried or know if its safe for me to change to zeolites as i cant find any answers. Thanks in advance

Hiya,

Disclaimer, but I have never bred any reptile and don't know much about it. Since it sounds like these eggs are kind of in trouble, though, I might split them up evenly between the substrates just to see if it works/which works better... Literally not put all my eggs in one basket.

Regardless of what you do, I wish you the best of luck!

Best,

Hi there, I had to Google zeolite [ never heard of it ] but if it's supposed to be absorbent you might try it or a mixture with the peat moss. Mix a batch up until it can hold it's shape if squeezed but very little water runs out. Then put a 3" layer in plastic container and make a divot with your finger where each egg will lay. The eggs should be about 1/3 or 1/2 of the way down in the substrate. Post some pics of your eggs now and after you make the new " recipe. " And what type of incubator do you have ? Here's how to post pics :

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
Taking my beardie for a walk
