I hear a lot about the importance of beardies getting lots of interaction / socialising / handling, but I also read lots about how every minute they are not in their correct environment, they are becoming more and more uncomfortable, and that they really ought not be kept out of their enclosures for more than twenty minutes at a time.
And don't they need to be exposed to their UVB like, all the time ...?
How long do other people keep their beardies out for? I'm sure a lot depends on how warm it is, and other factors, but I'd really love lots and lots of information on this, it would be most gratefully appreciated

i take Squishy out with me whenever it be the park, the mall, or anywhere they allow dragons. Squishy tends to get bored and try to run around. which mean he tries to james bond down my shirt. but i end up catching before he makes it down.
or i let him run around the apple store, and he runs around the iPhones and etc. the employees know me there and they don't mind.
i can keep mine for hour tops, but if he is at the park. he can spend hours on end under the UV sun until he gets to hot.
i am a weird berdie mommy o_O

My dragon is free roaming whenever I'm home. He loses his mind when he's stuck in his tank for long. There aren't any other animals in the house and everything is kept reasonably safe for him. He has three basking lamps in different rooms to return to and warm up when he wants to. Two are mercury vapor and provide uvb and one is a plain halogen providing heat with no uvb so he can choose. They don't need constant UVB and tend to like roaming around and exploring.

Wow, what wonderful lives your dragons lead!
This is exactly what how I want things to be with my boy, and then I started reading...
BeardieLover - I love what you say about your dragon spending hours in the sunshine, but I read that they shouldn't be in the sun or a certain amount of time- I can't remember what, but that sounds nuts to me. Anyone else heard that?

Can I ask how old your dragons are CooperDragon, and Beardie lover?

They can be in the sun, they should just also have shade available as well as proper temps (not too hot) so they can cool off if they want to. Same idea as when providing heat and UVB gradients across their tank. My dragon Darwin is about 2 and a half - an adult.

This is him hanging out under his living room basking spot.

BeardieLover- was that 4 hours tops, you say you keep Squishy out for?
well, not four hours all together. he gets his shade too.
i just re-read what i put... omg. i meant to put for hours straight. not Four hours straight. my dragon would have been fried as a fired potato. omg, sorry about that.
my one year old dragon can stay maximum 30 minutes, but when he gets older, he is going to want more sun. whoops. :O

doble post.
Squishy is a year old , very active little guy. sorry guys, he doesn't spend to much in the sun, he spends about 30 minutes, then he walks up to my neck and try to get some shade. apparently i am his shade.:p
he doesn't get all four hours of sun, most of it is him with me indoors (like a mall). when he does get outside, usually i will put him in the sun, until he walks up to me and cuddle on my neck. then its time to go in. sorry guys, no fried dragon tonight.:p

no one is perfect :") thank you for understanding! we should do a meet one day have a conversation about bearded dragons and etc. i think it would be cool :)
any dragon could be a lucky dragon. they have homes that someone could care for. they are not in a pet store where they are with other dragons. they have all the food and veggies they needed and they have room to run. even get some natural sunlight. thats what i call a lucky dragon :)

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
