Hey good people!
(My apologies if this isn't in the correct forum subject)
Curious to know if anyone else on here is from Edmonton, Alberta. I'd to ask anyone in the city if they know of any places around to get collard greens, mustard greens, or any other good veggie staples. As I've tried over 10-12 different grocery stores and all I can really find is kale, bok-choy, and raddichio. Which my dragon use to love, but lately he only eats a couple of leaf's every other day.

Also, if anyone knows of any good reptile vet specialists in the city.

Lastly, are there any stores that are good with reptile products besides Big-Als and the pet smart on Calgary Trail? They're okay, but I'm looking to see if there is anywhere with better products, more products, and more food options than over priced crickets. I use to order them by the 1000 but they came on a plane and half of them were always dead on arrival. The company Super Cricket was HORRIBLE with this. They would ask me for photos and wouldn't exactly do anything about it... So I stopped doing that even if it still saved me money. I was paying $55. It was still better than $9 for 25.... (actually usually 15 cause 10 or so were always dead). I've tried ordering certain canned proteins from ZooMed off amazon, such as canned super worms, canned caterpillars (no hair, white, non toxic) and canned crickets. Ogo doesn't seem to like eating things that are already dead.. He will, but I usually have to pretend to move them as if they were living :/

Any info would be great, and I hope that there are some Edmontonians on here!!!

I usually go to Blush Lane market on Whyte for collard greens, dandelion greens or other high quality dragon greens.

I hate big Als, any time we get fish from there they have ick and end up dying. We go to a aquarium central for our fish needs.

I talked about vets in my other post, but I can recommend one in Ottewell and there is Park Veterinary in Sherwood Park that a lot of people use.

I usually buy worms from either a local pet store in Bonnie Doon mall or at the petland by my house. They carry hornworms, silkworms, phoenix worms, supers and meals.

There's a Reptile Expo put on by the local reptile society October 8/9 at the Italian Cultural centre and the Edmonton Reptile and Amphibian Society has monthly meetings at Ritchie Community hall. Either place would be a good asset for anyone wanting to learn more about reptiles and the local community such as breeders and feeders.

Again, thank you for the post! All of this information is definitely helpful to me. I live far south side. By far south side, I mean Beaumont, haha. So I usually have to travel quite a ways for my purchases. Although I start my 4 year bachelors of science in nursing in a couple weeks at Grant MacEwan. So I'll be in the city and near a lot of these places daily. This is awesome info! I'm going to be going to that expo on the 8/9th for sure. ER&A Society sounds interesting. I might just have to go and sit in on a few of these.

Was a good idea to post in here, because all of your information is beyond helpful to me and I'll be using most of what you shared to my advantage :D

Thanks again!!

There's a Planet Organic on Jasper and on Whyte, they aren't super close to Grant Mac but you could drop by on the way home. Or if you're going to the ERAS meetings you could drop by before or after as it's super close to PO and Blush Lane.

There's a reptile rehab and rescue place in Calmar too. I think she brings in feeders for people, but not sure. It's so far away for me I can't drive 2 hours just to pick them up when I can get food closer.

We don't have to much of issue finding a good variety of greens in Edmonton, we regular the H&W and have a decent stock, however may I ask if anyone has used or know of a bulk supplier of live feeders locally?
And thank you for the other locations thats all good info

Lucky! I have such a hard time. Although I don't actually live in the city, I live 10 minutes south of it, in Beaumont, by the airport. I'm looking forward to starting university in a couple weeks, that way i'll be able to grab a lot more things around downtown!

That's a good question. If you find out an answer on the bulk suppliers, be sure to let me know! I may start breeding my own phoenix worms soon. It's very beneficial from what i've heard!

I have been looking all over the Web and made a few phone calls, mostly the bulk suppliers want to deal with stores or breeders. I'm not sure if there is a supply of bulk feeders in this area.
However my hopes are high as I'm making a point of attending the expo in October :)

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
