Sorry for the delayed response, but no news is good news! We're just back from his FINAL vet visit! He was sedated and x-rayed today, his jaw is all healed! The bone was slightly displaced, but having it immobilised for so long meant that there's a nice thick repair callus which has formed. The vet is so pleased, and surprised! So our teeny Draco is now free from all tubes, wires, and stitches and can start eating with his mouth again! Soft feeders only to start with, I'll be monitoring him carefully for a while, the vet said his jaw muscles may have atrophied a little.

So pleased! Here he is trying to remember how to eat hornworms...

That's great ! What a battle he had, but seems like he's won, or at least winning.I'm so glad for you + your family. :)

That's great to hear! He's fought through a lot. Hopefully it's all clear going forward and he has no other issues. I'm sure he's really glad to have his mouth be back to normal!

Ate a hornworm last night and a butterworm this morning! As far as soft feeders go, will he be okay nutritionally with butterworms for a few days? I've also got supers and dubia, think either of those is fairly soft?? Ooh, maybe a freshly-shed one? The vet said he's okay to start on crickets, so I may go get some of those too.

They will be OK for a little while. Silk worms and black soldier fly larvae would be a good option if you can get your hands on some of them too. The freshly shed bugs are a good idea too. I'd go easy at first and let him dictate what he can handle. Slowly but surely let him work back into chewing and working on normal loads of food.

This is so awesome! I'm so happy to hear your Draco pulled through! My Evee has broken jaw (fractured straight through the right side) and the vet is doing consults to figure out what our next step is. Hers got infected and is due to MBD and we have no idea how it fractured ? This thread gives me hope!

Thank you for asking! He recovered so well, he was on soft insects for a few weeks, then was back on regular ones: supers, dubs, and crickets. He was doing so well but I worried about good nutrition so I tried to encourage him to eat some greens. I was too confident, so gave him a parsley leaf and left him to it. When I came back and hour later to turn his lights over to the ceramic heater for the night I found him dead with the parsley leaf in his mouth, I think he choked.

That was a couple of months ago and we're all still pretty broken up about losing him. I felt so guilty, but my husband pointed out that he was very old (we don't know how old, he was a rescue, and was fully grown when we got him 7 years ago or so) and he may not have just choked, he may just have been still weak from the surgery or something else, and if it wasn't the leaf it would have been something else.

But I will say he did great with his several surgeries, my vet wasn't optimistic but he worked hard and did a great job. I was worried but I'm glad we went through with the surgeries. They seemed drastic at the time, putting a feeding tube in his tiny neck, but he did so well.

He's so missed!

Oh no! ? so sorry to hear what happened!
Thank you! It hit my children hardest, he was their favourite, so chilled out and calm when being held, and so much character.

How is Evee doing? What did you decide?

Evee had the infection removed and she's now eating on her own! She's healing up better than I expected. Unfortunately I lost my Gonzo just yesterday though. He had been the healthier of the two I thought but then his kidneys enlarged and we're slowly killing him ? I'm going to focus on getting Evee completely healed up. She still has 2 to 4 weeks of antibiotics left and her skin is shedding really weird (fungus we think so treating it with canesten). Hoping this phase with her clears up and that's it for a while.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
