Hi my 9 month old male beardie Chester stopped eating about a week ago, maybe a week and a half. He normally eats between 20-30 small supers a day with a little greens and veggies. Well I went to put his bowl of worms in about a week ago and he looked at them, took a little lick. Ate one or two, turned his nose and walked away! That kinda of worried me because normally he gobbles them right up. I've had him on small supers for a long time, I was always careful and watched but Never had a impaction problem. Always passed a stool every day, sometimes a couple times a day. Well I thought maybe he just wasn't hungry so I tried again the next day. Same thing. He also did the same with his greens. So I went out and bought him crickets because maybe he was tired of the worms. He ate about 3 crickets and stopped. Picked at his greens. So it's been almost two weeks and he has ate hardly anything! He is not lethargic. Basks during the day, hides a little by his rock and becomes very active towards the end of the day. Licking everything in his cage and sometimes dancing on the walls. This is all normal behavior.
His poop is also what is worrying me. Ever since he stopped eating, all he poops is white urate. That's it. When he poops it, it is a little wet. No actual poop. Sometimes there will be a tiny tiny tiny bit of light brown poop in it but thats it. He has lost a little weight but still has his belly and is not skinny at all.
He is in a 40 gal tank. He has a reptisun 10.0 mounted in the tank only about 6 inches away from him. With a 100 watt floodlight for his basking light and a 13w coil light on the cool side for light. He has two branches on his basking side with a rock (not a heat rock) and his food dish, and fake plants are on the cool side. His temps are 95-102 on his basking area. 85 on his cool side. Humitity is 23% on basking side and 38% on cool side. I do not put any heat or light on at night (not needed). He is on reptile carpet. I give him baths 3-4 times a week, but now that he is not eating I give him one every day. Sometimes two times a day. I dust his veggies and greens with calcium dust with D3 and phorophus free everyday.
Last time I took him to the vet, she said he was in perfect condition. I don't really trust her though and never plan on going back to her because her information was very incorrect. (she told me young beardies only should eat romaine lettuce and should not eat crickets at all and only wax worms). She also gave him antibiotics for no reason. And sadly she is the ONLY vet around. There are two herp vets around me, one 15 mins from me and one 30 minutes from me. And they are both her offices! The other herp vet is over 4 hours away! If he gets worse I understand I will probably be forced to take him, but does anyone have any idea what I can do besides taking him to the vet? Any had this happen so suddenly before? Pleas help I am so worried about him.
