Building new enclosure! Have a question

Ok so I am building my boy a new enclosure and getting him out of his tank. The enclosure is going to be out of melamine wood and will be 36x24x18(inside will be 34 1/2x24x16 1/2) and I was wondering about the plexiglass. Do I need to get quarter inch plexiglass or would something around .093 be fine? I have pretty much all parts just need plexiglass and I want to make sure I get the right thickness. It's not like my beardie will go through the glass right?

As long as it fits I would think so, but I don't have any DIY experience with enclosures so I can't say for sure in terms of the structure. I don't think the thickness of the door/window would have much effect on the habitat though.

Thinner the plexiglass the more flexible it is. I wouldn't use something that thin. 1/4" plexi is .250.

.093 is really thin stuff. I wouldn't use it. I just built mine and I looked at plexi but a sheet of 1/4" plexi big enough to do,what I needed was going to be like $50. I just got some glass cut and it was $25. Plus glass doesn't scratch and is,easier to clean. Plexi scratches pretty bad.

I just finished my 48" x 24" x 24" melamine enclosure and was going to go with 0.093 plexi until I realized how flexible it was. I ended up going with .220 thickness instead.

Yea same. I went to Home Depot and that stuff was super thin. I planned on .220 anyway just looking around. Check out my post in Enclosures to see my finished product and him in it!
