Poor Gary...

We took him to the vet due to being worried he had parasites and it turns out we were right. I'm waiting to here more from the vet on the type of parasite and mediation we're going to use. Poor guy recently stopped eating so much and isn't quite acting himself as much. He's also starting to shed again. He must feel awful :(

Onto my question...
I know we're going to have to sanitize everything. Some people say to use bleach, some say to use extremely hot water, what's the best option?

Also, he has a hammock that he loves very much, spends almost ALL his time on... Can I even sanitize it? It's made of fabric. Or would I be better off just buying him a new one?

Lastly, I'm a little fuzzy on what I should be feeding him as a probiotic while he's on medication. Can anyone clear that up for me?

And any additional advice for the poor little guy?

Poor guy. Hopefully he gets effective medication and feels better soon. I suggest cleaning either with a small steam cleaner or pick up some F10SC to disinfect everything. If he has wood in the enclosure you can rinse that and bake it in the oven at 250 for 30-45min. I'd use a disposable substrate for now like paper towels or if you have tile you can rinse and bake that too just like the wood.

As far as the hammock goes, can you put it in the washer? A wash on hot and then a run through the dryer on high temp should take care of it I'd imagine.

I like bene-bac (for birds and reptiles) for a probiotic. Acidophiliz+ is pretty popular too. Those should help him feel better while he's on the medication and bounce back more quickly afterward.

Thank you so much for the advice :) I'll do whatever it takes to make sure he makes a full recovery!

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
