Freezing Coccidia and Pinworms?

Hi everyone, my ~2 month old Bilbo is currently taking coccidia and pinworm meds, so all his furniture had to go for the time being (poor guy!). Most of the logs I have are too big to boil or bake, and I don't plan on using chemicals on them.

With winter approaching I was wondering if anyone knows if a cold temperature is capable of wiping out the parasites that have inherited the logs. Temperatures here can go as low as -35 Celcius.

Probably a long shot, but I figured I'd ask before throwing them out.

Hello,

That is a good question. Let me do some research to see what I can find out for you.
Don't throw the logs out just yet.

Yeah, I looked too. I'm not finding anything about suitable temperature ranges. :study:

Haha yeah, doesn't seem to be any easy-to-find information about that.

Hello,

So sorry about not getting back on the thread. I forgot to set a reminder...
As posted, it can be killed with freezing or extreme heat. I haven't been able to find an exact freezing temperature but I would think that under freezing would be adequate.

Have you set your logs outside?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
