What Causes Hard Orange Urate?!?!

Hi Everyone,

I bought a new calcium supplement for drogon that is banana strawberry flavor and really backed off on using it since I bought BSFL. However, Drogon is still having very hard urate with a orange tint on the outside! Since I backed off on calcium, what else could be causing this?? I've also been giving him 20 minute baths a couple times a week. Any help would be appreciated !

What is the diet? Any orange things like peppers - carrots?

Hi Karrie!

He's primarily on a worm diet:supers, BSFL, mealies, occasional waxworm. I always offer lettuce but it's completely ignored no matter what variety I put in. Occasional blueberry as a treat!

Please no more lettuce- have you tried greens like collard turnip kale mustard at all? What are you feeding the worms? Carrots?

I actually didn't mean lettuce like romaine but mixed spring greens instead. For the mealworms, they do best with potatoes, occasional apple or carrot. The BSFl I feed soft fruit rarely, so idk what's up!

Hi Karrie,
Here is a pic from today. His poop was a bit mushier than normal, even had to clean his vent but I think it's because I fed him a blueberry the day before. The urates are coming out in hard orange balls, and I would love if you could reach out to AHBD or Claudiusx for more info

Hello,

How often are you giving vitamins or calcium? A lot of times, oversupplementation "can"
cause the urates to either become discolored or too hard.
I would try to give more oral fluids, using a plastic dropper or syringe by dripping it onto the
end of the nose to see if he will take water that way.
Are the urates grainy also?

Honestly I've stopped giving him supplements at all for the last week or so because I'm waiting for his urate to return back to normal. I would say it's more chalky. Like they're coming out as hard little balls that resemble chalk. What's weird is he still excretes extra water when he goes to the bathroom. Sometimes he's good with fluids and sometimes not. Unfortunately he has zero interest in greens too
