He needs to be 6-8 inches from that UVB-- he is too far from it--- and no cover on the fixture+ take it off if there is one on

Right now it’s not, it’s actually supposed to snow tomorrow but I highly doubt it will. Luckily, also where I live we have very inconsistent weather and its supposed to warm up this week. I know I need some wood so he can get closer to it and I’m working on getting some now but my parents think it’s not necessary so it’s taking me longer then I want it to.

It's really good that you got the light, it will produce uvb up to 10" away just fine. If you put a rolled up old towel in there + set him on it he can be closer to the light then.
