I have a 5 1/2 year old male beardie. I adopted him about 4 months ago from a lady who didn't have time for him anymore. Right off the bat he was a loving, energetic beardie (although overweight), never black bearded and i was able to play with him the first day i got him with no signs of stress. However, the past week he has been acting very strange. Whenever we pick him up or put our hand inside the tank, his beard turns black. He doesnt hiss or bite or anything like that, but will very occasionally gape. I am concerned because he never black bearded until recently, i didnt know if maybe hes trying to go into brumation and we are annoying him? His beard Has also started to turn black right before he is about to go to sleep. Another thing is for the past five days he has just slept under his basking log, he hasnt moved unless i pick him up and take him out of his tank. I put fresh kale, blueberries, and cilantro in his tank every morning and he's hardly touched it. He also used to poop everyday and now he only poops every couple of days. When he pooped today he hadn't pooped for five days and the urate that came out was mostly a brown (kinda reddish) color :/ andhe keeps trying to relieve himself again but nothing more comes out. I've also noticed now he never poops in his tank anymore- only when he is in his kiddie pool. Another concerningthing is he seems to be losing a lot of weight has of recently- but then again, he hasnt been eating much. He'll eat a lot but only every couple days then wont eat anything. I just want To make sure he is healthy and happy
His tank temperatures are 85.8 on the cool side and 98.6 on the basking side. I give him fresh kale, blueberries, and cilantro every day (sometimes i give him other fruits and veggies as well but hes picky and usually only wants these three), and i feed him either dubia roaches, crickets, or superworms every other day (when he actually wants to eat).
Update: today i gave him repta boost and two baths he was irritated at first but mow is running around like a maniac im glad he is not just under his log
