Hey guys,
Been awhile since I have posted but I suspect my beardie to have a slight case of mouth rot. I took him to the vet a few months ago and the vet said he had the start of mouth rot and gave me a series of 7 injections of antibiotics and some diluted antiseptic scrub I was to use on the outside of his mouth "as needed". I have been looking for a good vet that is also fairly affordable. Quite frankly I did not like this vet I went to. He was just rambling away and did not really give me any information during the time he was examining my beardie. Anyway, I finished the treatment but i still see some dark grey spots on his lip area.
I have heard that there might be some home remedies for mouth rot. I was wondering if this is true. I do not like putting him on antibiotics. Especially if it is something I can treat at home. I have read that it is a build up of unwanted bacteria so my logic thinks that there should be another way to rid the bacteria from his mouth. Almost like us using mouthwash.
Any suggestions at this point are welcomed. The vet I went to was 45min away and charged me over $260 for an exam and some meds.
