Ponazuril dosage and duration help!!!

Baby Charlie is about 4-5 months old, unsexed, and weighs in at 33 grams. (60/40% chance Charlie is a male, according to the vet.) Charlie's stool sample came back positive for coccidia ... The vet gave me Ponazuril as Charlie's medication: .5ml everyday for 28 days. I was told this is way too long for Charlie. I know beardies have good bacteria in their digestive tract and I now fear that the ponazuril will wipe out that good bacteria. Any help, suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated by Charlie and I!!

What are the basking temps? 100-108F
What is the cool side temp? 80-85F
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun? An infrared digital thermometer
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps? On basking branch for basking side and on accessories on the cool side
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad? Neither
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific. Small crickets from petco dusted with rep-cal calcium with vitamin d and phosphorus free every day and rep-cal herptivite 2-3 times a week. Mustard greens as last meal
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)? 4 times a day - 10am, 1pm, 3pm, 6pm
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc? Yes, with flukers orange cube and mustard greens
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? Yes, rep-cal
How many days a week do you use each of them? Calcium- everyday -- vitamins-2-3 times a week
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)? Yes
Do you bath your dragon? How often? Yes, Every day, once a day
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath? Yes
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done? Yes
Does your dragon share an enclosure with another dragon? No

Yes I was surprised at that amount, most beardies get dosed for 2-4 days. I'd discontinue for now if you say he's been on it for 5 days [ I think ] from your other post ? Don't get worried, just keep the meds. and have him re-tested if you like in a couple of weeks. Many beardies carry low levels of coccidia naturally without problems but a month worth of medicine can be harmful to them.

It sounds like he/she is pretty healthy. Can you post a pic of him + his set up ? And I can probably sex him for you....just set him on a table or if he's pretty relaxed in your hand, lift his tail up in the air [ like a dog's tail when they're excited ] Snap a few pics of his rear end [ cloacal area ] and post here using this info :

But don't be too worried, coccidia is common and Ponazuril will get rid of it or get it under control. He should be fine.
