I just went through my first brumation. I should say, Lizzie just went through her first brumation. Having never had a reptile for a pet, it was kind of strange to have an animal that didn't eat for two months. Every day I provided fresh salad and Bearded Dragon food, but Lizzie would have no part of it. Today she ate a dozen super worms.
It was nerve-racking to go through, made only worse by the fact that we lost our power for 2 1/2 days after Hurricane Irma. I was able to provide light with my generator but the inside of her enclosure had 100% humidity. The heat was brutal.
When she started going into brumation, she stopped eating her crickets and roaches. I had two crickets and two roaches left that I decided to give a full pardon to. I've been feeding them for two months. I won't feed them to Lizzie now, I'll just let them die of old age. One cricket already died. They must think they are in bug heaven, having some guy providing food and water for them.
I just wanted to thank the owner of the site and everyone for providing such great information about brumation.
