strange behavior for my beardie ):

so lou is overall a healthy happy boy. he never gets angry with me and let’s me do as i please with him. needless to say he’s very comfortable with me. i noticed he hadn’t pooped in a while so i tried to massage him and give him a bath but it didn’t work. that was a couple days ago. he finally pooped today and i gave him crickets which he goes CRAZY for. he didn’t even look at them. ate none. i figured maybe he doesn’t feel the best. he was very moody and i went to pet him and he flared up at me. not like him at all. later on he seemed to just push out milky liquid. no poop. and again later this evening the same liquid. he’s never done this before. there was also a red tint to his poop so i thought he might be dehydrated. i syringed him some water which he took but fell asleep during!! he was very sleepy and lethargic. i’m worried he’s sick. the temperatures are also starting to drop so maybe brumation but he didn’t brumate last year. idk if all of these symptoms are a sign of that or not but i need some insight. please help!

Please post pics of tank and lighting and your dragon--- https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/
click on XIMG at top of message box and click on pic and it should post--- what are his basking temps and how are you taking them ? infrared heat gun stick ons or digital probe? lighting in the tank has a huge impact on on heath and behavior --- so we need to see the environment and go from there for a sudden change --- has his diet changed at all and what are you feeding him ? any supplements?

Hi there,

Oh no he fell asleep as you were giving him water? That's really not a good sign he must be feeling really sick right now.

It's been a few hours, how is he acting now?

Would you be able to post a few pictures of him and your setup? We need a lot more details in order to help you.
How old is lou?

It's been a few hours, how is he acting now? he was acting okay and now he’s sluggish again and has another discharge. when i pet him he puts his head down. this is not like him at all.

Hello,

He is a nice looking dragon, I love his colors.
Can you review his diet & supplementation with us?
Which tube UVB brand do you use? The tube bulb is mounted inside of the tank which
is good but if you can mount it overhead underneath of the screen so that it refracts down
ward towards him better.
I would try to find a vet who specializes in reptiles to get a fecal done on him. It sounds
possible he could have worms or parasites which are causing his issues.
Since he isn't feeling very well, can you keep him at or around 80 overnight to help boost
his immune system.
Let us know how he is doing.

thank you tracie! he’s my baby and i absolutely adore him. he eats collard greens everyday and crickets dusted with calcium every 2-3 days about 8-10 of them. i use the reptisun tube light uvb bulb i believe 10.0. i never thought of mounting it like that! i think i’ll do that it’s a great idea. i don’t have the money to go to a vet. if i could i would. i have a local herptologist that comes to me pet store. i’ll give him a visit. he’s doing the same. lazy and still having the milky discharge. sometimes it’s a little more solid than others. he’s not eating a whole lot and he’s been very attracted to his heat lamp more lately. i’d love to hear your feedback thank you so much!!!

Hello,

How is your boy doing tonight?
That sounds like a plan, to mount your tube bulb differently so that he can get a better
exposure. How old is the light? At least he was spending more time basking under his
light recently. What type of thermometer are you using to measure the temps with?
Unless the humidity is really high for prolonged periods of time, that shouldn't make a
difference.
Maybe you could have the herpetologist do a fecal on him to be sure he doesn't have
high levels of worms or coccidia that could be causing weight loss. I'm glat to hear he
eats his greens regularly, too because a lot of them don't!

Let us know how he is doing.

i am currently at the vet with lou. turns out he is a she!!! i thought that in the beginning but someone told me it was a boy. guess not! i know i need to get a new uvb light. they did a fecal and turns out she’s full of pinworms ? they’re deworming her and she was super dehydrated so they’re giving her fluids. she’s going to get some prescriptions and i need to raise the temp in my tank. i’m so happy i have some answers. and so lucky my dad is paying so i can pay him back. i’m thinking regular visits in the future will be a good plan. thanks for your help! i hope she gets better!!

Hello,

Oh so you have a female dragon instead of a male? Figures, right? I thought you were
going to say that she was full of eggs, but, she isn't quite round enough for that.
What medication did the vet give for you to treat the pinworms & how many treatments are
you having to give?
Is she eating very well right now?
Since she has pinworms levels that are high & will be on medication, be sure to keep her
a little warmer overnight, to help boost her immune system & appetite. You can use some
bee pollen to help with appetite & maybe some probiotics also to help with her tummy while
she's on meds.

Let us know how she is doing.

Hi there,

How is your GIRL doing today? :D

Can you go over the changes you've made in your setup with us?
What is your basking surface temp at now?
Did you get a new UVB bulb?

With Pinworms, it's important to keep the tank as clean as possible during treatment, otherwise there is chance for reinfection. Pinworms are pretty tough outside the body, so they can stick around for a bit. But as long as you're cleaning religiously, you should minimize those chances.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
