Zilla Hood Help

Hi all,

I recently replaced my girls uvb and got the reptisun 10.0
t-8. I purchased a Zilla hood and replaced the bulb that came with it for the reptisun.

This is the hood I got - https://www.google.com/search?q=zilla+fluorescent+bulb+holder&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=sinv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjbxfyOxL_hAhUl04MKHRIvBLYQ_AUoAXoECAcQAQ&biw=375&bih=635&dpr=3#imgrc=-DmjXIIKWFSAOM

I just thought about it today and I was thinking that the clear plastic that covers where the bulb is (might not be plastic I’m not sure) would prevent UVB rays from making it to my girl.

Should I get a new fixture? Or is it okay

Hello there. I bought that exact hood before and I was able to take the plastic cover off of it. The cover will most likely block the UVB, so I suggest taking it off. Hope this helps!

Yes please take the cover off the bulb -- its the bulb that you want good - the fixture really doesnt make a difference --

Hello,

What tube bulb are you using?
Assuming you are using a regular T8 tube bulb, most of the fixtures are compatible with
the tube bulbs.
As suggested, you can continue to use that particular hood but just remove the plastic so
that the UVB can shine down.
