Hey guys and gals. Can someone help me with using tiles in a tank? I have my boy now in,of course, a 75gal. He's always been either on paper towels or reptile carpet his whole life. I like the look of the tiles, and it keeps me from having to adjust the towels. I'm just not sure which tile is the best to use,and how to measure the inside to make sure I have the perfect fit?

I would imagine getting textured tiles would give better grip than the smooth tiles, also just take a tape measure and measure the inside of the tank... Put one end on the inside for wall and measure across bending your tape measure at the end of the other wall to get your measurement. Do the same for length and width then multiply the numbers together. That will give you the surface area, it will be in inches. So for example is you have 25" long and 20" wide that will give 500" squared of area. Most boxes of tiles will give coverege in feet so you will need to divide your inch calculation by 12. So if you have 500" squared, divided by 12, you get a total area of 41.66 or 42 feet squared. Will need to make cuts in your tile at some point so a wet saw would be nice to rent if you don't have one already. Also, wood plywood would be a good idea to put down and screw into the bottom of the tank if the tank has only plastic bottom and lay tile on top of the wood. Keep in mind between the plywood, mortar, and tile... This tank will be very heavy to move if need be.

Okay I'll get the measurements tonight and see what it comes out to. Do people usually get more than two pieces of tile in a tank that large? It's literally a 75 gal fish tank, all glass. I just want something that looks a bit more natural and easier to clean up.

If you are planning on using large tile with no grout in between them, you will be able to get away with simply gluing the tiles down with a construction adhesive like liquid nails... Or you can simply get laminate stick on tiles if you see a style you like. If you end up going with smaller tiles ( under 6") I would recommend treating it as if it was house floor.

All my tiles are loose for easy removal and cleaning/ sterilizing. Leave some space on the edge so you can grab them and remove them. I used 18"x 18" slate tiles and cut them to fit.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
