What is the consensus on the Excavating Clay? Is it safe or is it dangerous like sand? I was thinking of doing a combination of tile and the clay, so I could build a bit more interesting terrain for Phoenix. Also to give her something to dig in since she doesn't like the dig boxes I've given her and she digs on the tile. I wanted to check here before I invest my time and money into it.
Speaking of digging, I'm not 100% sure but Phoenix seems to be female. She's a week away from her 6 month birthday and isn't showing signs of maleness... When would she start laying eggs, if she was going to lay eggs? She's alone so they obviously wouldn't be fertile. Is it imperative to have a lay box always? Or just when she's scratching lots? Is it possible for her to dig so much on the tile that she files her nails too much?
Also, when do I start changing the temperatures to suit a dragon who is no longer a baby? Phoenix is coming up on 6 months old and I've noticed that she no longer sits on her basking spot which is around 104-108 degrees Fahrenheit. She used to sit there all day long and fall asleep there at night, but now she hangs around spots where its 90-95 degrees exclusively. Should I lower the temperature or leave it as is? If I should leave it, then when do I lower them?
