It did stick fine but me being a worry wart I tied a very thin piece of rope my hubby had on each hook just to be sure. With the hooks it doesn't move and I am in and out the tank often.

I ended up buying a fixture at one of my local pet suppliers and I have 4 eyehooks screwed into the fixture and this evening I am going to try to fish some slight wire through the screen and attach it to the eyehooks and see if that works if so I'll keep you posted.
Does anybody use a night inferred light I was thinking that with my baby beardie a swing in temp from 105 down to 75 was huge and I was thinking that was why he wasn't eating the last few days. I started using a night inferred two nights ago and he/she ate 2 crickets yesterday????

Jackiesmamma I like those brackets and they would work I'm sure I have my basking spot towards the back as he likes to climb that styrofoam back so I was going to mount my 24" uv in the center of my screen. I've read so much and everything I read online the local so called people in the know tell me something totally different. I don't believe it is suppose to be this complicated.LOL.

You do not want to use any Colored Light for Heat, Beardies Need Bright Clean Visual Light to be Active, Eat, Ect. If you need extra Heat for Basking or the overall Cage temp's you can use a Normal House Hold Bulb, just make sure it is Clear and Not Coated white, also Walmart Sell's Small 35 & 48 Watt Halogen Spot/Flood Light's that would work.

Ok, I rummaged through my garage and found a strip of old molding and some bolts and I think I solved my light mounting problem.
I sat the strip of molding on top of my screen, drilled 2 holes in it that lined up with my Lights of America fixture. Then carefully made a "larger" hole in my screen that I could pass the 2 bolts through. In my instance I used a nail to make the hole large enough so that I could then screw the bolt in and bolt it to the molding on top of the screen. Once the bolts were in place, I fine tuned tension on the fixture, hung it and ran my power cord through the conduit passage built into the tank. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but not awful either and I am completely satisfied that it will not fall on Gimli's head. If you want ti invest even a bit of money, you could probably run to your local supply store and pick up a prettier setup.

I'm confusing myself right now, so just look at the pictures :)

Hi, I think it looks good (and safe! lol). Since you have the same tank as me, I have to ask...I've been doing the trial and error thing the last couple days to get the lights / temps right. Making a little progress but not as much as I'd like. I can't bring the new baby home this weekend unless I get it right by then! So where you have the two domes - are those combining to give you the right basking temp? What light bulbs are they? I tried an Exo-Terra 100W basking light and at the 6 inch away point, still only got to 101 deg and need 110. So today I tried a clear halogen house bulb that was supposed to be the equivalent of 100w. Success...kind of. Got to the 110 deg point at the top of the branch but it cools down very quickly just a couple inches down (84 deg) and by floor it's more like 75-80 so I really think I need a bigger/stronger basking area. Mercury Vapor Bulbs are supposed to be the hottest as well as giving UVB and are on sale for $45 right now at Petsmart....or should I just try the double dome idea like you, either way I think it's about the same money.
What is your "cool" side temp? do you know what the temp is on your basking side but on the floor? Sorry for all the questions, thanks for your help!

It's actually Ok if you can't get right at 110, some younger Beardie's actually like it better at 105 or even 100, but it's recommended for a Young Beardie to be at Least 105-110 on the Basking Spot, if you van get to 105, then you're ok. And as Long as your basking Spot is Correct and around the Spot is in the 80-90 range, that's ok too, and the far end cool side can be in the 70-80 range.

I don't hit 110. My basking temp is between 100-105 (I have a Rankins and read 102 is ideal), carpet under log is between 92-97. Cool side is in the 70's. I use a 100w Zoo Med basking bulb and a 100w CHE. I have the CHE on a dimmer, which I adjust depending on the temperatures in my house. The CHE is on 24/7. My night time temps drop to 77. In the beginning I tried adjusting the CHE each night but was driving myself crazy. I also have a 60w bulb on the other side of the tank that I turn on as needed, like after a bath or if it's colder than usual.
I live in NY and it's freezing out right now. We tend to keep the house on the cool side due to the insanely high price of home heating fuel right now.
And to anyone blowing off what the good people of this forum have to say....Gimli was more active tonight simply by moving the UVB bulb under the screen as opposed to on top of the screen. Noticible difference.

Thanks, I was wondering if I'd need to add a third light (in addition to basking and reptisun 10)...sounds like it might be best. I think I'll end up getting a CHE so I can be sure to always have the heat.
Have a good night

I do like the way you hooked your light up, it seems very secure :) It looks a little high though, is your beardie's basking spot within 6-8 inches of the light?

It's about 12'' away, but a new log is on our list of things to get next time we hit up Petsmart

A higher log would definitely be a good idea, from what I've read and been told here a beardie can't get nearly enough UVB from a light that far away, and the UVB is very important for your beardie's health :) I've always read that both juvies and adults need to be able to get within 6-8 inches for the best exposure :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
