I would love to test it if it's a power sun. They are good for a year. Your suggestions were great. :)

How's he doing today? Have you had a chance to weigh or measure him? I'm curious how long he is, he looked like a good size.

I won't have down time to weigh and measure him until tonight. He is super active today. He is not sure how he feels about being in a new tank. He's running around it sort of trying to tear it apart. Also, I think he hasn't been held much. He's not too hip on being held yet, but we'll love him and warm him up.

One of my recent rescues was being fed...wait for it...MICE as his core diet and if he got held once in a month, then that was a good month. When we got him I would hold him up on my shoulder and it would go like this...

Nice dragon.

Hissssss

You're a good dragon.

hisssss

It's okay, you're a sweet dragon.

Hisssss

Now he's a lover. :)

Mice for a main, wow where did they hear this was ok? I have gotten a few (like 3 in the past 5 years), I was going to give one to pebbles after she had laid her eggs, but the pinkie I got looked a little too big for her, it looked smaller at the store, so she didn't get it (no one did). Loki got 2 his whole life as a special treat. I picked the smallest, but he was also 23.5 inches, so no problem for him. They definitely shouldn't be fed all the time, too much fat. That's too bad he wasn't given attention but he's soaking it in now.
I would think he was handled at sometime, but maybe not as much recently. At the store he handled good with the manager, he could have just been scared and a little cold there I guess. I'm sure you will get him to warm right up to you, I don't think he will take long. Poor guys in a new home, not used to the attention and you offended him with that bath  (plus we called him stinky). I'm glad he is so active that's a good sign he is lively. When you do get the time post his size for me please, I'm just so curious.

We were talking about the dollar tree, I don't know what you do with all the poo but I got these little diaper trash bags in the baby section. There are 75 bags, they are scented and perfect for the poo trash. We both seem to love the dollar store, I'm sure you already saw or have these or do something differently. I just has to share that.

He is so cute, looks healthier than I expected. He also looked quite content basking on the log, what a cutie pie.

You think that maybe a diluted Betadine bath would help with the poopie smells perhaps?

Good luck with him, you'll be snuggling with him in no time.

Oh yeah, he definitely wasn't bad, I just thought the poor guy deserved the help to find a great home and petco can't take as much time cleaning him and giving the attention he deserves because they have so many other thing to do. He will be perfect in no time and make someone a really happy owner. Shelby has a whole crew to give him the love he deserves. Maybe with your supervision he could be one of your kids pets? I don't wonder if he is more used to a younger person since he did belong to a kid?

Hello,

Oh he looks really good, I am glad you got him!
So he was insulted that he got a bath? That IS hilarious. I think he should be fine.
As long as he has good UVB & maybe some liquid calcium for awhile he will recover nicely if he does have a slight calcium issue.

That is a wonderful coordination to get him a home. :D

I agree Tracie, it's definitely not severe if there is a calcium issue he was not showing any severe symptoms yet (as far as I could tell, Shelby might have noticed something by now though). Correct care should be all he needs along with lots of love and attention, which from talking to Shelby he will definitely receive at her home.

He just looked at me with those alert eyes and cute face. I almost felt he was sending thought my way  "please help me, I promise I'll be a good dragon. Please don't let me go somewhere else where I'm forgotten and made to sit in my own poo so I'm covered with it."

Like I said, if Shelby hadn't messaged back, I would have had to make room somewhere for him until I could find a home for him, but then he probably would have never left lol. He does look skinnier in person, slight hip bones and dimples, but the tail is still pretty fat. I just couldn't keep him out of my mind and decided to try to help him find a good place. I figured, what place would be better to find a good home for him than here?

I still can't stop thinking about the poor juveniles, uh oh.......

Im so happy to see he found a great home! Thank you for messaging me as well. I would totally have taken him. We have an extra tank with a second set of all proper lighting that we use when we go up north in the summer. We use it as Tashi's extra tank when we take him up with us on occasion. (Have dragon will travel!)

He looks really good too! How is he eating? I'm sure you both know what's available in the area since you are from Roseville and have great dragons yourselves, but I just thought I'd share some more options. Have you guys been to Twin Cities Reptile on University? LOVE that place! They are the reptile KINGS over there. They now also sell hornworms and Mustashio loves those things! Plus they have a good water content too so helps with the dehydration.

Also, I take Mustashio to Southview Animal Hospital in Inver Grove Heights off Southview Blvd and Hwy 52 for regular and "sick" visits. That is where Twin Cities Reptile takes all of their animals too. Dr. Godinez is the reptile specialist and is absolutely fantastic! We had some issues with Mustashio when he was very little right after we bought him from PetSmart. He was loaded with parasites and worms, probably didn't have much of the proper UVB, and Dr. Godinez didn't think he was going to make it. Now 2 years later he is happy as a clam! I would take this new guy in for a routine check or at the very least a fecal. You don't have to bring him in, just the poo. Fecal is $30 and takes 15minutes.

Anyway, I'm so glad that he is in a good place and getting the awesome care he needs! I'll definitely keep following this post too for updates! He has similar coloring to my Tashi! Take care dragon friends!

Hey, there mustachio. Shelby wasn't sure yet if she is going to keep him or adopt him out yet, so if you would like another guy you could let her know you would give him a loving home. There are also a few juveniles at the petco that need to get out of the tiny tank.

I love twin city reptiles I don't trust any other feeders locally, besides the other few reptile stores.

You should post the info about the vet on my thread asking for vets in minnesota, it can help some people out.

Also the expo is coming up, I put all the info in the reptile shows section.

Great to hear from another mn beardie lover :blob5:

Also if you ever find a rescue in need check out the link Shelby supplied for the rescue she is starting up. She also posted her email I believe, if not I have her phone number and can always call her about the beardie (or reptile). She is part of the mn herp society as well. Also I'm sure she would accept donations of any slightly used supplies that you may no longer need or like (or find cheap at garage sales) as the rescue is still getting going.

P.s. I'm right on the edge of Roseville so we are pretty close.
