A little overweight

My bearded dragon, Julien, is 2 years and 1 month old. I noticed that he has gained a little too much weight, and I'd like to adjust his diet. I know i was feeding him mealworms too often, so I've cut that down to three times a week. I usually feed him a mix of collard or mustard greens, carrots, radish, and occasionally different kinds of fruit (apple, banana, strawberry things like that) and calcium powder. What should i add or take away from his diet? What kind of diet do you use for your dragon?

At 2 years, he should only be getting a few bugs a couple times a week. As far a mealworms - stop feeding those all together. They are fatty and low in nutrition. Black solider fly larvae, dubias, crickets, or silkworms are a MUCH better option for protein. Mealworms, superworms, and wax worms have a high fat content, so I’d avoid making these a part of his regular routine (particularly if weight is a concern). I love dubias, BSFL, hornworms, and silkworms. Adding dandelion, mustard, and turnip greens into the mix would also be beneficial. And for veggies butternut squash is a great staple.

Can you post pics of Julien ?

My dragon's diets are crickets, superworms, occasional hornworms and greens. In the summer they get dandelion from my yard as well as clover, a very nutritious plant that is mostly overlooked. They like the clover leaf more than the flower.

My dragons were not that thrilled with silkworms for some reason. Some ate them, some didn't.
