my month old beardies ran off on me today :(

so I have a usual routine with my beardies 8am the basking light goes on and the uvb 30 mins later then feeding and finally sun time for a couple hours with good ol vitamin d3 . everything was just perfect there basking both female baby and male baby I keep them in this bucket with water a bitt tipped over so the sun can shine down and they can also have a place to cool off and there's a little puddle of water there since its at an angle and the son wont evaporate it as fast so that's my little cheap budget set up since I cant walk them yet because they are still small but getting to there juvenile stage well one is at least and the other im waiting on it but long story short I usually sit there with them for an hour wait till my wife cooks sneak into the house grab a bit under 30 mins and poof I come back out and the bucket is all the way tipped over I hop up off the ground and scream BABE my babies ran away f*** this is bulls*** man why me so I start looking everywhere and since my house is full of vine plants like Mexican squash watermeloms trees etc. I felt like I was never going to find them but I looked looked and bame in-between some grass and some vines is my first beardie marky and I see the poor guy is really really dark and I try to grab him and the lil guy is trying to defend himself but he finally recognizes its me and he starts clearing up in seconds so hes safe now its time to try and find my female beardie lust and I had no luck but I kept the bucket they escaped from tilted how they left it and a couple hours later guess who's seducing me to pick her up by the bucket I left outside lust well that was my big scare today hehehe just dropping by trying to share what happened to me and the moral here is never leave your beardies unattended for any reason thanks for reading

Such a relief to hear you recovered both of them! It's scary when they run off like that. Fortunately they don't often go too far. Perhaps outside time would be more secure in a childs playpen or something similar so they have space to move about but are better contained & protected. I'm so glad it ended well =).

Definitely invest in a mesh type of playpen, that has the ability to put on a mesh top or already
has one that could be taken on & off. Just so overhead predators wont get at them, either.
