I don't know where to look for a socket I can put my CHE in when I decide to build my own vivs.

Go to Lowes and ask for a "Cleat Receptical" or outdoor lighting parts.

Are they rated hot enough for a CHE?

I am not sure, 660watts load is quite a bit though. It should handle heat.

I was trying to look into it but, I cannot find components of the socket beside plastic and the apparent metals.

i use them on CHE's, if you have any doubts, get the cheap light fixtures made of ceramic for $2.00

As long as the fixture isn't plastic, it should be able to hold up to the heat.

should be all you need, you can get one of these at just about ant hardware store that sells electrical parts.

I like these better than the one posted above because the wiring connection is not exposed.

I didn't use these im my viv, I used an exterior round plate with two flood lamp heads to hold the bulbs. I use one for the basking bulb and one will be for the CHE. They are wired to two separate plugs.
