Tongs don't buy you crickets Smaug

I swear that Smaug thinks his tongs feed him and not his human lol. I guess that's somewhat true but I feel like saying "Listen mister...this human holding the tongs that tries holding you is actually supplying you with those bugs you love so much. Show me some love sometime."

I guess it's still an improvement because he used to run from his tongs, but now it's only my hands lol. I just have to be patient. Anyone else feel this way?

oh they definitely associate the tongs with food. if i pick the tongs up Tasty Treat zooms to the corner of the tank. They even bite at the tongs when there isn't food on them. lol.

I will also hand feed them certain foods. They both pull the food off my hands without biting, unless it is something they REALLY like then all bets are off. Tasty Treat used to grab my fingers with her food, but she does better now.

you can hold a treat in your palm with it flat to let them eat from your hand without eating you too. This will help associate you with food.
